elevated 216Fv Peacefully, Captain Neidhard Bodo aka Mike Salitter, at the age of 83, sailed on his last voyage towards the spirit world. He battled cancer for close to two years. Those who knew him found a man of courage and grace. We lost a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
elevated 216Fv Born in Koenigsburg, Germany on October 25, 1938, Mike studied at the Naval Academy in Flensburg, then enrolled with the Maritimes Academy at Hamburg. At 28, Mike immigrated to Canada and was hired by Irving Oil Company settling in Nova Scotia. He then continued his education earning the designation Master Mariner by passing his examination in the United Kingdom, becoming captain of bulk carriers and tankers such as the Cape Breton and the Ontario Power. Throughout his career, he held different leadership roles working at Hull Corporation of Canada, Upper Lakes Shipping Company, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Sir Sandford Fleming College and McCloskey International.
elevated 216Fv Mike is survived by his wife, Diana Chan-Salitter, his children, Michael Salitter, Heidi Salitter Morrow, Benjamin Salitter, his sister Sigrid, his step-children, Cecille Chan-Lim, Sandra Chan-Zoratti, Genevieve Chan-Aw, Alexander Chan, Aaron Chan, Kelly Cantin and Kerry DiPasquale, and his grandchildren, Alex, Cooper, Caitlin, Andre, Jayleen, Riley and Makayla.
elevated 216Fv A visitation will be held Saturday April 9, 2022, from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by a mass at Holy Cross Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Rd, E. Thornhill, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of his life.

Our deepest condolences to your family! He was a great friend and travelled to help us support our daughters loss of husband two years ago. It was heart warming to see him here with Heidi! God bless him and his entire family!
We will be making a donation to the Cancer Society in memory of his valiant fight with cancer.

Our deepest sympathy on Bodo’s passing.
I will never forget the incident after one of the gatherings in our place. My brother-in-law Pat Chan wore Bodo’s boots home. He didn’t even realize the mistake till Bodo said to us later ” where are my boots”??? The last pair of the boots in our front foyer does not belong to him.
We certainly had a good laugh that evening!!!
We will miss Bodo dearly specially his infectious smile and all the humorous jokes that he shared ,with us.
May his departure soul RIP with our Eternal Father.
