It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of Carmel Cardona on October 7, 2025 at home, aged 91. His loving wife, Winnie, was by his side up to his final moments holding his hands. They had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on September 19, 2025. Loving father of John and daughter-in-law, Christine , Christopher and daughter-in- law, Kelly. Proud Grandpa of Raphael, Sophia,and Sarah. Dear brother of Marion and late brother-in-law Oreste. Uncle to many nephews and nieces. Carmel will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of his many members of extended family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten. It is certain that his late daughter, Jennifer, and, his son-in-law, Captain Robert Kovacs will be waiting for him at Heaven’s Gate to welcome him and spend eternity together.

Carmel, as we celebrated our 60th Wedding Anniversary on September 19, 2025, it was a much quieter time than our usual joyous occasions since you were much weaker. However, the most important part was that we were together.
Our life saw many adventures, travels, exciting cruises, and family celebrations. But, unfortunately, some very tragic moments. In spite of all of the difficult times, we plodded on and never gave up.
You shared your love for seashells with me from the very first day we met, 66 years ago. Your collection kept growing larger with new acquisitions. Whenever, I look at them, they will bring back happy memories.
Your love for knowledge helped you with your long teaching career.
Even after retirement you continued to share your knowledge with our grandchildren, Raphael, Sophia and Sarah as you had done with our own children John, Christopher and our late daughter Jennifer with whom you will be reunited. We were fortunate to have great daughter-in-laws, Christine and Kelly who have shown us a great deal of respect.
On your behalf, I would like to thank our dear neighbours, the Korens,, who have always and remain so caring and protective of us. Thank you Alla, Svetlana, Sonia and Elise. I am sure you will meet the late Vladimir with whom you had many conversations,
Your sister, Marion, in Malta misses you. So do her children, all your nephews and nieces and their spouses ,as well as, their children.
I would also like to thank ,on your behalf, Heidi, the coordinator of your At Home Care Program who was instrumental in getting you help promptly when needed. Olga, the nurse also patiently visited you and was always attentive to your well-being.
In addition, I would like to acknowledge all the PSWs who visited you, took great care of you and encouraged you on a daily basis. Special thanks to Sureyya who had been so patient in her care for you and who had always good advice and support. Thank you, Sureyya!
Patience, went over and above her caring for you. God really gave her great patience and calmness whenever you were anxious. She was the last PSW who took care of you a few hours before your passing and she spoke softly to you as she was making you comfortable in bed for the night. Thank you Patience!
Finally,thank you also to all the other regular PSWs : Gagan, Siva, Tishan, Tenika, Solmaz, Nadia, Lola, and Toyin. Please continue to perform your work with love and dedication.
So rest in peace, dear Carmel, and be assured that you will always be fondly remembered.

The hardest thing in life is to say goodbye. What can I say about an amazing man who was a father, grandfather, provider, supporter, teacher and such a presence. For 59 years, you were my guide and helped me throughout the years with school projects, teaching me how to swim, taking me to my little league games, your guidance in giving me the success with my public speaking, attending my piano recitals and so many other things. I will miss hearing Max Bygraves and Roger Whittaker’s music resonating in your home, especially around Christmas. There will be an emptiness in our hearts with you. Christine and I will miss you dearly!!! RIP and love you Dad. Thank you for everything!!!
Dad, you have made a big impact on my life and I will always remember the times we spent together and all the things you taught me along the way. My biggest joy in recent years was seeing you watch my children grow up, being their Grandpa and influencing their lives as well. We will always cherish your memory and keep you close to our hearts.
