elevated Nzy8y It is with profound sorrow and sadness that I announce the death of my beloved wife Carmel Galvin, who died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. Carmel is survived by her husband Patrick  and predeceased by her mother Irene Crilly, her father Steven Kelly, sister Mary Coulos (Jim), and her brothers Francis Kelly (Carole), Joseph Kelly, Gerald Kelly (Patricia), Keith Kelly (Edna), Kenneth Kelly, Leonard Kelly, and Leo Kelly. She is survived by her brother Lawrence Kelly (Barbara), (Carole) as well as by her many nieces and nephews.

elevated Nzy8y Carmel was a woman who possessed a deep but quiet Catholic faith and a deep belief in the goodness of God. That faith served her very well as she battled with the many and varied health issues that afflicted her over the last four years of her life.  Watching the Daily TV Mass on Vision TV was an important part of each day for Carmel.

elevated Nzy8y Carmel was very fortunate to have chosen not one, but two challenging and interesting careers that gave her much professional satisfaction. Her first career was with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), where for over 30 years she held several administrative positions working on the production side of the film industry. She was very fortunate to have worked alongside some of the most creative people in the Canadian film scene at the time, including Donald Britten, (the great Canadian documentary film maker), Wolf Koenig and Roman Kroitor, to name but a few of the legendary talents who were a part of the NFB in Montreal.

elevated Nzy8y Carmel’s second career was equally challenging and rewarding. Upon relocating to Toronto and settling into married life for several years, Carmel was given the opportunity to interview for an administrative position in the law department at Air Canada. Her administrative background and enthusiasm for the position impressed the Senior Regional Solicitor so much that he gave her the job and trained her to become a legal administrator and a commissioner of oaths as the office handled many interesting and challenging cases, a few of which ended up going to the Supreme Court of Canada.

elevated Nzy8y Carmel was a very kind and loving person to the many friends and family members that knew her. If anyone needed any help, she never hesitated to help them in any way that she could.

elevated Nzy8y Carmel was a very loving spouse and supportive partner, and together we built a life that was based on shared values, interests and goals for each other. We always wanted the best for each other in every way.

elevated Nzy8y A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph’s Chapel at the Holy Cross Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, Ontario, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 1:30 pm.

elevated Nzy8y The Galvin family wishes to thank all of the nurses and staff who gave Carmel such great care during her many weeks in the hospital; we also want to thank Doctor Ed Gutman for his great support and Doctor Patrick Carroll for his outstanding care, compassion, and support  for Carmel and our family.

elevated Nzy8y In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
