elevated cvvWw Noli Carmel Swatman (nee Feehily)  Adored wife of Trevor (Teb) Randolph Swatman, beloved mother of Deirdre Swatman (Josh Benish) and Carrie Swatman (Chris Miller), loving Granny to James & Lola Miller and loving Granna to Declan Benish, doting aunt and friend to many, passed away in her 79th year after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 with her husband and son-in-law by her side.  Born in Sligo, Ireland on July 8, 1940, to Agnes and Jim Feehily, Noli was a curious and bright child who excelled scholastically and in Irish dancing.  Many attributed her feistiness and strength of character to her attendance at St. Louis High School in Kikeel, Northern Ireland where she attended on scholarship due to her natural brilliance.  Upon graduating, she moved with her parents and sister Netty to London, England and the rest as they is history.  There she met our father at a Catholic Dance at Charley Macks in London, England when she was 16 and married him three years later.  They emigrated to Canada in 1962 and bought their home in 1964 in Downsview where they reside to this day.  After her eldest daughter Deirdre went to school, Noli went in search of work and became employed at the brand new York University.  It was here that she truly thrived and stayed for almost 30 years, working her way up from a legal secretary position at Osgoode Hall Law School to the Director of the Office of Research Administration (ORA).  She is credited with building the great success of the ORA office which injects funds into the university for research.  This office still flourishes today and has made York one of the best universities to showcase research.

elevated cvvWw At her centre, mom was so proud of her family and delighted in all their successes and the grandchildren they gave her to spoil.  Her eldest Grandson James held a special place in her heart as he was the first.  Her youngest grandchildren Lola (Carrie) and Declan (Deirdre) were dubbed the terror twins and loved their Granny/Granna to distraction.  Finally, there was the great love story of our father and mother, married for over 60 years and together for 63.  They had a bond that was unbreakable and though we didn’t always understand it there was a love that was deep and true that set an example for us of how to ‘bend and sway without breaking’.  We will miss her great laugh, her loyalty of friendships, her love for bright colours (especially fuchsia), her impeccable jewelry and her drink of choice – champers.  Rest in peace Mom – we will meet again and we hope that you will look down on us from time to time and smile.  We all miss you already.
