It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Carmelo Scala on May 3, 2023, at the age of 98. Carmelo is predeceased by his late wife, Maria, of 77 years. He was a loving father to Joe (Vincenza), Sam (Sebastiana) and Tony (Perla). He will be forever cherished and loved by his grandchildren Maria (Mike), Frances (Domenic), Cassandra (Fabio), Carmen, Connie (the late Ralph) and Mary. He will be fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren Sebastian, Lorenzo, Cristina, Olivia, Jessica, Marina, Constantino, Alyssa, and Giuliana, as well as his great-great-grandchildren Sophia, Brayden, and Sofia. Carmelo will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends here in Canada and in Italy. Our family would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Borchuk, Roderick and the wonderful caregivers who provided our father with exceptional care.

You were so loved and we will always remember the times we had together. Our hearts are shattered as we bid farewell to the patriarch of our family. We will miss you dearly. We were very lucky to have both you and Nonna for 20 years of our lives. We will always cherish the memories of the relationship we shared especially of you watching us have fun at the cottage. Even though saying goodbye was hard in all of us, we will never forget how much you loved us and how much we learned from you. You were so proud in our greatest achievement and always hoping the best for us. It is an honor to be great grandchildren of such a kind, generous, and loving man.
We love you and we will see you again.

I am deeply saddened for your loss. I have heard so many amazing stories about Carmelo throughout the years. He was an extraordinary, proud, hard working, generous and devoted family man who was extremely dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Although this is such a profound loss, find solace in knowing that Carmelo can now be reunited with his beloved wife, Maria, of 77 years.
