Catherine Ann Montpetit (née Green) passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, with her devoted husband Mark at her side, sharing with her all the stories of life, love, family and friends from a beautiful 41-year marriage.
elevated 4HwdL Catherine was a loving mother to her children, Meagan (Johnny), Matthew (Kaitlynn), and Michael (Alexandra). Her granddaughter, Kennedy, was the light of her life and brought her immense joy. She took tremendous pride in her family and found joy in spending time with her loved ones, including her best friend of many years, Jay Bomberry.
elevated 4HwdL Catherine was born on August 24, 1950, to John and Bertha Green in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She was a cherished friend, aunt, sister (George), and sister-in-law.
elevated 4HwdL Before her retirement, Catherine was very proud of her career at Bell Canada, which she balanced with being the number 1 hockey mom, hosting every holiday and tirelessly caring for her family. She really did do it all.
elevated 4HwdL Throughout her life, Catherine’s kindness, generosity, and humour left an indelible mark on many hearts. Although she will be missed in ways we can not imagine, she will be remembered for the love and joy she brought to our lives.
elevated 4HwdL Visitation to honour Catherine’s life will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, Ontario, L3T 3Z6 on Thursday, April 18 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place inside the funeral home’s Chapel of St. Joseph on Friday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Catherine, or Cathie as I think of her was my best childhood friend. We have not seen each other much over the years but I have always considered her a friend. My condolences to all of her family at this sad time and I am very sorry to hear of her passing.

God looked around his garden and found an empty space.
He then looked down upon the earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult.
He closed your tired eyes.
He whispered to you Peace be Thine and gave you wings to fly.
When we saw you sleeping, so calm and free of pain.
We would not wish you back on earth to suffer once again.
You’ve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide.
You live on through your children you’re always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.
