Her faith and devotion to her family supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Beloved wife of Santino. Cherished mother of Adam and Richard (Mary Rose). Devoted Nonna of Matthew, Chiara, Gianna, and Maria Teresa. Doting daughter of Maria (née Pirri) and the late Santo De Gaetano. Loving sister of Antonette (David Matthews). Predeceased by her brother Joseph. Kindly remembered by brothers-in-law Paul (Rosa), Joe (Antonietta), Tony (Rosetta), Carmen (Pina), Carmelo and sisters-in-law Pasqua and Franca. Cathy’s infectious smile, caring heart, exuberant personality and strong faith will be greatly missed by everyone who had the gift of Cathy in their life. Our loss is heaven’s gain … another angel to look over us!
I have known Cathy from grade school in St. Edward’s throughout high school at Loretto Abbey and remained friends throughout. The last time we spoke, she told me she had the green light to go to Italy with her loving husband, Santino and other family. I encouraged her to go and enjoy the trip …she was to call me when she came home.
While I am saddened to hear of her passing, she fought the battle with everything she had and finally God called her home. My sincere sympathy to her mother, sister, husband and family. My prayers and thoughts are with at this time.
We have been praying for Cathy through her illness; and we know that she has reached the loving arms of Jesus. She touched the hearts of many, with her exuberant personality and her strong faith.
With love and our deepest condolences,
Joe and Anna Lo Bianco and family

Cathy ‘Digs’ as we called her in high school was full of life, always a smile and such a positive energy about her. I had the most wonderful conversation with her at our last Loretto Reunion. She talked so proudly of her family and all their achievements, you could just feel the love for them pouring out with every word.
I am so sorry for the loss of this wonderful woman and know that the family will be surrounded by love and support as Cathy was truly a special person. May her spirit be soaring.
My condolences to Cathy’s family on behalf of St Bonaventure’s Catholic Women’s League. I knew Cathy personally and found her to be the kind of person described in her obituary: kind, caring, friendly and always with a lovely smile.
It is sad to lose such a wonderful and beautiful person, but we all know she is in a better place and is ‘up there’ praying for us.
May God give you the strength to deal with your tremendous loss.
