It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claire on February 24th at age 81. Beloved wife of 58 years to John, loving mother to Lori, Ian, Tanya and Sean, sister to Geraldine Moffett, proud grandmother to Aidan, Dylan, Lily, Maya and Ava Jo, beloved sister in law and aunt to many and inspirational friend and colleague.
elevated cVfOx Raised in Bray, Co Wicklow, Claire spent her early life in Ireland before emigrating to Toronto. Here, she raised her family, was a volunteer teacher of English to immigrants, and worked for decades at the Toronto District Catholic School Board, in particular at Madonna High School.
elevated cVfOx Claire was love and light, caring, thoughtful and generous; the epitome of kindness and a strong role model. The twinkle in her eyes and the lilt of Irish laughter infused many a memorable gathering. Those at her table enjoyed her world famous lasagna, shortbread cookies Irish coffees and her clever wit. She was selfless, planting seeds of kindness everywhere she went, including in her show-stopping garden. She loved her days at Balm Beach and their magnificent sunsets, her heart was always full of love.

Beautiful tribute to the kindest person. Claire always made you feel welcome in her home and cottage. She made sure you were comfortable, well fed, and also handed out small chores so you really felt at home. She taught me tips in the kitchen, how good pecan pie was and always made sure everyone enjoyed long days at her beloved Balm Beach

Claire was a gentle soul, kind hearted, caring, compassionate, huggable, and ever loving. Our family had the pleasure of spending some valuable time with Claire, sharing great stories, delicious meals, and loving moments.
Last year, we celebrated my mom’s 80th birthday together, and Claire was a great comfort to my mom, who had lost her husband of 53 years, just months before.
John, or Opa John as Konstantin calls you, we now offer that same compassion and comfort to you. We welcome you with open arms, and Konstantin is already planning on how to put a great big smile on your face.
Claire and my dad will be our guiding lights; ensuring that their families, here on Earth, will be safe, loved, and forever joined. Our deepest condolences from our family to yours.

So shocked to hear of Claire’s passing. Jon and I moved to a new house a few months before Covid. Only talked to Claire a few times. Used to see her when I walked at the beach and at St. Patrick’s church. I will miss having chats with her. Claire was a beautiful person inside and out. Sympathies to John and her children.
