elevated INo2b It is with great sadness that the Ammirato Family announce the passing of Corrado Ammirato. Corrado died peacefully at the age of 94, on April 28, 2021 with his beloved wife, Antonella, with whom he spent 50 wonderful years of marriage, by his side. Corrado is survived by his three children Josie (Ali Mahdavi), Adriana (Geof Jardine), and Sal (Mary Bruno). He will always be loved and greatly missed by all and especially his seven adoring grandchildren, Julian & Sebastian, Claudia & Vanessa, and Arianna, Corrado, & Gia. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and uncle, always being a pillar of unconditional love and support to everyone around him. He cherished his grandchildren to the utmost degree and embraced every moment that he spent with them.

elevated INo2b Corrado, immigrated from Italy to Canada in 1950 to continue his education and paved the path for his family to provide them with a wonderful life. As a proud Canadian citizen, Italy always remained a big part of him, and he always continued to be emotionally moved every time he heard the Italian national anthem. Education was always paramount to Corrado. He went to great lengths to graduate with Honors from the New England College of Pharmacy in Boston, Massachusetts after completing his under-graduate studies at the University of Toronto. Upon completion of his Pharmacology degree, Corrado started his career at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he later operated successfully, pharmacies throughout the GTA with his brother-like friend, Mike Di Tommaso.

elevated INo2b His passions included music, soccer, reading, and documentaries on the first and second World Wars. Corrado’s core values of honesty, loyalty, generosity, kindness, tenacity, and perseverance touched the many people that were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. His sense of humor and laughter filled the room.  We are extremely thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Sunnybrook Hospital. Finally, our sincere thanks to the VHA Home Healthcare and CCAC in particular, Ruth, who was instrumental in the final years of his care.
