elevated dud9G It is with deep sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Daria Buijs (nee Cypaluk). She died at home on November 13, 2020, at the age of 70. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Mychajlo, and her brother, Zenon. She leaves behind her former husband William, daughters Larissa (Daniel) and Christine (Nick), and her beloved grandchildren Lucas and Owen. Daria was born in Bradford, England, and moved with her family to Canada in 1952. They settled in Toronto and became active members of the local Ukrainian-Canadian community. Daria completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto, followed by training at Lakeshore Teachers’ College. After graduation, she travelled to Europe with her best friend, Anne, to take in the sights and culture. She then married William in 1974 and started her career as a grade-school teacher in Mississauga. Years later, Daria was diagnosed with a mental illness that required her to adapt her life and activities, but she handled the challenges with grace. She was a kind, generous and courageous person, and she always looked after the wellbeing of others. Daria volunteered at Recovery West, a mental health recovery program in Brampton, enjoyed the company of friends and neighbors, and never missed a birthday or celebration of her loved ones.

Rest in peace. You will be missed.
We had the pleasure of first meeting Daria when her dear daughter Larissa married our son. She was indeed a kind and generous lady.
Our deepest sympathies to her family during this difficult time.
My sincere condolences to you Bill and your family
I have many fond memories of your family coming to visit us over the years and the fun trips we had together
We are so thankful that we have many memories to keep close to our heart
All my love Ria
Daria Buijs will be missed a great deal. I only know her through a good friend of mine. She was the kind of person you would want to know. I will miss her a great deal.
