elevated 4i0vy Deniz (Chappy) was born in Hong Kong and studied to become a lawyer. He immigrated with his wife to Toronto in 1968 and continued practicing law here. In 1984 they returned to Hong Kong where he worked for the Hong Kong Government and eventually retired as a District judge in 1996 whereupon they returned to Toronto. Being an avid sportsman all his life, Chappy enjoyed golfing in his retirement. He was an active member and supporter of the Macanese Community until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Marie-Cecile and brothers-in-law Tony Basto (Sydney, Australia) and José Basto (Rochester, New York).

Uncle Chappy will be greatly missed. Over the years
Uncle Chappy and Aunt Marie attended weddings and visited
us here in Seattle, Washington. We had many good
meals and good times.
My mother’s youngest brother . He was just a boy when Japanese bombed H.K. can you imagine ! He visited us in Seattle many times he was a favorite Uncle for sure RIP Uncle Chappy !

Deniz, so glad we got to know each other and enjoy being neighbors. You and Marie looked over and kept an eye on our house. May you rest in peace and enjoy the eternal life in God’s hand.
Deepest condolences Marie from the Ozorio family (Stephanie & Adrian, Frisca & Phil, and Joe & Lori Ann). We have so many wonderful memories of you and Chappy with mom (Cleo) and the Filho-Mac gang over the years. We treasure these memories dearly.

Sorry to hear about the passing of my Godfather Uncle Chappy. Even though we lost contact over the years I still have fond memories of him and my Godmother Auntie Marie. I’am the son of Chappy’s sister Christine. God Bless and rest in Paradise. 🙏🏼😢
