elevated QJL7S Obituary
It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Diva Cantarutti in her 93rd year on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late Nevio Cantarutti. Cherished mother of Gilbert and his wife Fulvia, Paul and his wife Grace.  Caring and devoted Nonna to Alyssa (Jan), Dana (Mark), Andrew (Krista), and Stephen.  Proud Bisnonna of Olivia and Benjamin.  Diva will be missed by her extended family and many friends.

elevated QJL7S Diva was born in New York City, in February of 1932.  Facing the ravages of the Great Depression, her family decided to repatriate to Italy later that year, settling in the small hamlet of Muris di Ragogna in Friuli.

elevated QJL7S Diva grew up in the love of her family, her grandparents, and her many aunts and uncles until everything was turned upside down by the outbreak of World War II.

elevated QJL7S At 17, following the war, she followed her father to Canada to forge a new life and prepare a new home for herself and her father, and ultimately for her brother and her mother who followed later.

elevated QJL7S Here, she would meet the man she would spend the rest of her life with and together they built the family Diva was so immensely proud of.  Her dedication, untiring work, and selfless devotion never wavered and her love for her family grew with every addition.  She was particularly proud of having earned the ‘rank’ of Bisnonna to Olivia and Ben.

elevated QJL7S The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the Medicine Staff on the 6th floor of Southlake Hospital and to the nurses and volunteers at Margaret Bahen Hospice who all provided such wonderful and loving care.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Diva’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca or the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario. https://www.myhospice.ca/
