It is with profound sadness, but immense gratitude for a life so richly lived, that we announce the passing of Domenico Joseph Fiordimondo on July 23, 2026.
elevated xRQWj Born in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, Domenico was the eldest son of Maria Lombardo and Dante Fiordimondo, and a proud older brother to Franco and Vito. At 17, he immigrated to Canada with determination, a strong work ethic and an unwavering belief that anything was possible through hard work.
elevated xRQWj An entrepreneur at heart, Domenico built a successful life through business and real estate, but he was perhaps best known as the owner of the Village Inn Hotels, which he proudly operated for more than 50 years. He loved connecting with people, never lost his appreciation for a good conversation or a familiar face, and was known for his warm smile and wonderful sense of humour.
elevated xRQWj Of all his accomplishments, nothing mattered more than his family. His greatest love was his wife, Mirella, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, adventure and unwavering devotion. Whether travelling the world together or enjoying time at their home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, they embraced every chapter of life side by side.
elevated xRQWj He was a loving father to Marisa, Francine, Sandro (Claire), Steven (Sandra) and his daughter-in-law Maria, and a proud Nonno to Kyle, Justin, Jacqueline (Nicholas), Ava and Elisa, who brought him endless joy.
elevated xRQWj Faith was the foundation of Domenico’s life. He was a dedicated Knight of Columbus, served as an usher for more than 40 years, and was honoured as an Augustinian Special Benefactor after completing 25 retreats at Marylake Shrine of Our Lady of Grace in Ontario. His faith was not simply something he practiced. It shaped the way he lived.
elevated xRQWj Domenico had an endless curiosity about the world. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting, reciting poetry, listening to opera and classical music, and was an active member of a monthly literature group in Naples, Florida. He also treasured the lifelong friendships he built over decades, friendships rooted in loyalty, trust and genuine affection.
elevated xRQWj Those who knew Domenico knew a man of integrity, intelligence and quiet confidence. He was a beacon of loyalty and respect, guided by an unwavering moral compass and a deep commitment to doing what was right. He led by example, treating everyone with dignity, generosity and fairness. These were not simply values he believed in. They were the principles he worked tirelessly to instill in his children and grandchildren, leaving them a legacy that will endure for generations. He truly was a gentleman and a scholar.
