elevated mAuWr Obituary

elevated mAuWr It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Domenic Maduri at the age of 93.

elevated mAuWr Born in Satriano, Calabria, Italy, Domenic’s early life was shaped by hardship, growing up during the Great Depression and WWII. Despite only completing Grade 2, he emerged with a deep resilience, sharp instincts, and a quiet wisdom that guided him throughout his life.

elevated mAuWr In 1954, he immigrated to Canada in search of opportunity, following his brother and leaving behind his family and homeland. Though he missed the beauty of Calabria, Domenic embraced his new country wholeheartedly, proud to call himself Canadian.

elevated mAuWr An accident prompted a return visit to Italy, where he met and married the love of his life, Giuseppina. Together, they built a strong, loving family and a life defined by hard work, devotion, and perseverance.

elevated mAuWr Domenic worked in construction, rising to lead foreman before purchasing the business with his brothers. Specializing in tennis court construction, they grew a successful enterprise.

elevated mAuWr Though self-educated, Domenic deeply valued learning. He taught himself to read and write in both Italian and English and was determined his children would pursue higher education—personally funding their university degrees and helping them start their adult lives. He believed in family, integrity, independence, and the importance of living within one’s means.

elevated mAuWr In retirement, Domenic remained tireless—rising early, helping his children with renovations, tending to his garden, making wine, and caring for his family. He found joy in work and purpose in every task, no matter how small.

elevated mAuWr He had a remarkable gift for conversation, effortlessly connecting with people from all walks of life. Many who met him said simply, “I just love Domenic.”

elevated mAuWr Domenic was a pillar of strength—quiet, humble, and generous. His deep Catholic faith sustained him in his final days, offering peace and comfort.

elevated mAuWr He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Giuseppina Maduri; his children Tony (Julie), John (Wendy), Frank (Livia), and Rose Larosa (Tony); grandchildren Scott (Lauren, great-grandchildren Connor and Paige), Melissa, Joshua, Natalie, Marco (Brittany), Francesca, Michael Larosa (Samantha), Matthew Larosa, and Stephanie Larosa.

elevated mAuWr His legacy lives on in the family he built, the values he upheld, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.
