elevated mGXaA June 5th, 1941 – December 9th, 2022
elevated mGXaA Cindy & Trish sadly announce the passing of our mother (G’Ma to her grandchildren), Donna Kathleen McGuinness, (nee McGurk) on December 9, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Mom was 81.
elevated mGXaA Mom is survived by us, Cindy Bingham (John Murrell) and Trish Wiemer, (Kevin) and three grandchildren, Brittany, Meaghan, and Jesse. Predeceased by her parents, Frank, and Nellie McGurk (Flynn), her sister and brother-in-law Diane & Jim Cullen and our dad Brian.
elevated mGXaA Born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1941, to a large extended McGurk family, Mom moved to Toronto in her early 20’s. She went back to school where she graduated from the Social Worker program at Seneca College and went on to have a lengthy career with the City of Toronto. Anyone who knew her, knows this was a perfect job for her. Mom cared about people and helped in any way she could.
elevated mGXaA Mom was a HUGE sports fan (golf, tennis, soccer) but her favorite teams were the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Hamilton Tigercats.
elevated mGXaA But the true passion of mom’s life was her family. She was always there for us, her kids, and grandkids. G’Ma never missed an event, and we mean never. She attended every school play, dance recital, soccer, or hockey game they played. She will be greatly missed.
elevated mGXaA A funeral mass will be at St. Bonaventure’s Church 1300 Leslie Street, Toronto, M3C 2K9 on Friday December 16th 2022. Visitation at the church begins at 10:00 with the mass at 10:30 am. The family invites you to the Parish Centre after mass for refreshments, to share your memories and celebrate her life.
elevated mGXaA In lieu of flowers, Mom requested donations to Better Living at Thompson House where she received such loving care the past few years.
elevated mGXaA Donations can be made online at https://mybetterliving.ca/support-better-living/ (please select Better Living at Thompson House from the menu) and envelopes will be available at the service.
I will remember Donna as a happy kind soul with a great sense of humour and a helping hand. Donna was always welcoming and warm. She was family first and so proud. I’m thinking of you all. I’m deeply sorry for your loss of this wonderful person.
Donna taught me a lot when I became good friends with Trish in our early teens. She was always calm and honest about how she felt about life and everything we did. Thank you Donna for your wisdom and truth. Heaven gained a wonderful angel.
My whole family sends Trish Brittany Meghan and Jesse our condolences.
My sincere sympathy Cindy to you and your entire family. I had the pleasure of meeting your Mom on a couple of occasions and I remember her being very nice and welcoming to her home. You are in my thoughts and prayers
I didn’t get to know your mom but heard wonderful things about her. Our condolences to your family at this time

Aunt Donna was such a strong passionate woman who was always there for us when you needed her. She had a natural way of helping others with such compassion. We will miss her dearly.
Sincere condolences on your loss. Donna will be singing in heaven with her beautiful voice added to those of the angels.
I had the pleasure of working with Donna at the City of Toronto for many years. She was a wonderful co-worker and a fierce and caring advocate for those less fortunate. Donna will be missed. I hope her memory will be a blessing.
Sorry to hear about Dona.We spent a lot of time together growing up.We grew apart as the years pasted and our grand parents and parents passed they were the ones who kept the family together.l was in contact we Dona about a year ago.
Oh my, this saddens me. Donna was a fun, witty, acerbic and crisp cousin, definitely a force to be reckoned with. She had a huge heart and shared her gift of music with everyone. I will miss her.
Bev
Our sincere condolences to Cindy, Trish and all the grandkids.
Donna was one of the first to greet us to the Village neighbourhood back in 1977. Our familes became friends instantly. Donna would drive us to special events in her old VW bug while Cindy and/or Trish would babysit our two kids. We had many, many good years together as friends and neighbours.
Our hearts and prayers are to the Holy Spirit.
Neil and Pat Kelly and family
I just recently learned of Donna’s passing. She was a lovely person and a great co-worker at the city. She always spoke proudly of her children and grandchildren and I’m sure she will be missed. My sincere condolences.
