elevated piHlI Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beloved Doreen Pinto, who passed away peacefully on September 24th, at the age of 67.
elevated piHlI Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Santan and Maria Adeline Pinto, and her brothers Rudy (Vicky), Tony, Ronnie (Yvette) and her sister, Loretta (Trevor). She is survived by her brother Leslie (Rhona). She will be sadly missed by her many nephews and nieces, Bevan, Janice (Steven), Brian (Leena), Steven (Natalie), Ryan (Cora), Kevin, Justin and Ian; and her beloved grandnephews, Savio & Remy, and grandnieces, Tara & Maya.
elevated piHlI Family relationships were extremely important to Doreen. Making memories were at the top of her list and she cherished every opportunity to do so. She loved spending quality time with her siblings, nieces & nephews, as well as friends that she called her “chosen family”. Doreen loved to be surrounded by people and enjoyed social activities such as going out for dinner at new restaurants, watching movies, enjoying a night out at the theatre, concerts and so much more. Doreen was a world traveler and she visited places such as India, Alaska, Spain, Hawaii and Cuba to name a few.
elevated piHlI She worked at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto for close to 30 years as a front-line worker and then as a supervisor. She positively impacted the lives of many children and their families. She devoted much of her career to supporting children and teenagers who were in her care, helping them navigate the transition to independence and adulthood. Doreen was known to be a fierce advocate for children, youth and families that she worked with ensuring the most vulnerable people in society were safe, happy and successful. She created close relationships and deep friendships with her colleagues at the Children’s Aid Society.
elevated piHlI She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith – grounded in her beliefs, morals and values. She was kind, generous, honest, well-respected and was a mentor to many in her life. She loved being part of her community and wellness groups. Doreen was a cancer survivor and a warrior and she volunteered at Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, where she was loved and inspired by many.
elevated piHlI She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, songs, poems, laughter and love. Her strength, wisdom, generosity and zest for life will continue to inspire those who knew her. We will be forever grateful for the time that we were given with her, and she will remain deeply loved and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
elevated piHlI In her own words:
elevated piHlI “I don’t take anything for granted anymore. I wake up every morning and say to myself, ‘Thank you God for another day and allow me to use this day as best as I can.’ I believe in counting my blessings and having the cancer experience magnified this for me. It allowed me to see all in my life that is good. That’s my attitude of gratitude!” – Doreen Pinto
elevated piHlI In memory of Doreen, please wear PURPLE as this was her favourite colour.
elevated piHlI In lieu of flowers, a donation to Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation (Birmingham-Gilgan House) in her name would be greatly appreciated.

Shocked when I received the news. Doreen was a kind friendly soul. May she rest in eternal peace with her family and friends. May the Lord give courage and strength to her family during this difficult time.
Very sad to hear about Doreen, she was a big support to any organisation and recently played a big part behind the scene at our CTK Reunion this year. The Pinto Clan are old old friends from our days growing up in Karachi ( Society ) and we fondly remember them till day. May you rest in eternal peace
So sorry to hear this. But glad I got to see and speak with Doreen at the Reunion in August. Her last message to me was September 11th.
Rest in Peace beautiful soul and give your sister a hug for me.
Our beautiful Doreen, the news of your passing, has shocked us all. Less than 24 hrs, of speaking with you, are gone forever. I will miss hearing your voice, especially when you sang to me over the phone.
You have left behind a legacy of, commitment, kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, & much love. Doreen , you have lived your life, and has shown us , deep love for family and friends .
You will be greatly missed.
To your loving family, please accept our deepest condolences, Rest in peace beautiful girl ❤️🫶🏻
Doreen was a wonderful dear friend who I met through Wellspring Cancer Support. She loved to connect with people and she truly cared about everyone she knew. She loved to laugh and be social. She was the founder and leader of Wellspring Warriors, an informal circle of fellow Warriors providing community and connection over lunch in Wellspring’s kitchen and other venues. I am lucky to have celebrated her last birthday with her and met many of her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all. I’m honoured to be one of many your closest friends that surrounded you in your last days. Rest in Peace my Friend Doreen.
So sad & sudden ❤️
Our deepest condolences to the family on the loss of Doreen. May she rest in peace, and may God give you all strength and comfort. 🙏❤️
Life is so beautiful, but this part sucks!!!!
I’m actually unsure how to express my emotions precisely with this news because it is becoming a sad reality and hitting too close to home. I will say that Doreen will always be special to me, as will all the Pintos.
I will also say that Doreen was such a pleasant person. I’d always be so excited for her visit.
Doreen was very smiley and huggy. Doreen loved to have fun. We were foodies. Kontiki in Montreal was a fave. Our outings always included a shopping trip where Doreen bought me whatever was the fashion trend at the moment. My fave were the Chinese collar top & 3/4 baggy pants — all silk.
Doreen is not present with us, but will never be forgotten.
XOXO

My deepest condolences to all of Doreen’s family. I only just connected with Doreen and discussed our close family connections, her work and many other things. We had a nice long conversation last month and it was only a week ago that she congratulated us on our son’s nuptials. But that is what she was, a nice decent person who did so much good in this world. I’m glad that I had that phone call and got to know her a little. Rest in Peace Doreen.
I was deeply saddened to hear about Doreen’s passing. I met her through our dear friend, Rose about 10 years ago. We shared many memories especially being her trivia partner – she always knew every answer! 😊 I will miss her humour, kindness, and compassion. She was there for me when my mother passed and always made sure I was okay. I’m grateful to have known her. She will be dearly missed. May perpetual light shine upon her soul, and may she rest in eternal peace. 🤍
Our deepest sympathies to all the family on the the loss of dear Doreen. Our family friendship goes way back from the the time of of the entire Pinto gang of siblings growing up in Keamari Karachi. Our special message is for Lezily & Rhona to take courage for the good Lord is kind and merciful and in all his glory will grant eternal rest to Doreen’s soul. Amen.
Doreen will be sadly missed. My condolences to her family. Rest in Peace.

Your optimism and cheerfulness was such a warm welcome every time we texted and although our planned lunch did not happen will never forget you made every effort to do so even though you were not well.
