elevated vvm4e Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Murtha (nee Tyler), RN on December 30, 2021. She passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side.
elevated vvm4e She is predeceased by her husband Joseph. She is survived by her loving daughters Lydia (Jeremy), Mary Louise (Neil) and Nancy. Beloved grandchildren Kathryn, Alex and Emma will miss their kind, loving and generous Grammy. She is now reunited with her husband (Joe), parents (Ernest and Bridget Tyler) and 8 siblings (Sr. Lydia SOS, Fr. Ernie SJ, Ella, Evelyn, Peter, John, Marion and Billy) who were all waiting for her.
elevated vvm4e She was born in Montreal and her compassion for people took her to Toronto to study nursing at St. Michael’s Hospital . She became an RN in 1959. She soon met her husband Joe and had her three girls.
elevated vvm4e From a young age her love of reading made her knowledgeable in many areas. She always said as a child she would read “anything she could get her hands on.” She continued to love to spend her free time reading and playing euchre. She was also a formidable Jeopardy player and loved a glass or two of good wine. She believed that joy and love were found in the simplest of things like a perfect flower or the comfort of a hug. One piece of advice she shared was “Be true to yourself and you will always be happy”.
elevated vvm4e Our Mom was a beautiful lady and mother. She had a strong belief in God and all his goodness. Despite many life challenges her Catholic faith was unwavering.
elevated vvm4e We will love you forever and miss your beautiful, welcoming smile.
elevated vvm4e In lieu of flowers, donation to L’Arche or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Dorothy, was a great sister-in-law. I shared many a good laugh with Dorothy and yes Dorothy was a very caring person after completing a night shift at the hospital she spent the next day by my side while I was in labor with my first child and assisted in bringing him into the world.
The Tyler clan 9 children, their mom and dad must be celebrating in heaven and enjoying their reunion.
