elevated BUGkD It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dougall Alexander, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Emily Jeanne nee Kostrowski). Cherished father of Dwayne (Marina), Robert (Gillian) and Leigh Anne. Devoted and proud “poppy” to Matthew, Emily and Julien. Dearest brother of Dolly, he is predeceased by 8 other siblings. Dougall will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dear Dwayne, Bobby and Leigh Anne. Great souls never really leave us because they leave their marks on us whose lives they’ve touched. We will all remember your father. Fond memories, especially his cheek pinching!! May God bless you in your time of grief and sadness. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family; especially his sister, Dolly. We had the pleasure of spending time with Dougall at his sister, Dolly’s. He was a tireless worker and he and Dolly spent much of their time together doing yard work and pruning trees around the property. He was known for his handshake that would lift you off the ground.

Dougall was for me a very special man. Throughout his life, not only did he and his wife, Emily, demonstrate consistent, incredible compassion and caring for their children and a host of other children whom they fostered, but also for all others they touched. As a simple example from 40 years ago, when I was making a house call on a patient a few houses up from where he lived, he asked if he could wash my car while I attended to my duties. No welcome could be more welcoming and no handshake more firm than to meet him as the first contact at the Royal York Hotel where he worked. Always positive, always thinking of the “other person”, always strong and energetic, Dougall is a dear, dear friend who has passed through a door to an unimaginable life of joy which door I also expect to pass through and there to find him in the kingdom of heaven. I pray that the Lord of all life will be with the family in thanksgiving and remembrance.

Dear MacDonald Family,
My heartfelt condolences on your loss. Having spent many hours having coffee and chatting with Emily at the kitchen table while visiting the house, there was always a “Welcome” and “What can I get you?” I will always remember those times as well as Christmas Eve meals at part of the extended family. I was very sorry to hear of the loss of one of my favourite Uncles. He was always cheerful and willing to relate stories from his tenure at the Royal York…having met royalty, actors and dignitaries over the years there. I wish I’d had the chance to watch him play the bagpipes, but I’m sure he’s regaling the angels above to a hearty march or two.
As a family, we shall all mourn the loss of someone so dear to us. We pray together to once again hear the spirit of the pipes up in Heaven one day. God bless the MacDonald Family at this time.
