It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dr. David Anthony Balaishis of Aurora, Ontario on Monday, August 1st, 2022, at the age of 79 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Linda; daughter Jennifer (Shanone); grandchildren: Saige and Paloma; sister Gloria (George) Zlotkus as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son, David Michael; and his parents (Anthony and Anna). Dr. David Anthony Balaishis grew up in Rochester, NY, and moved to Canada to attend the University of Windsor and Medical School at the University of Toronto. He was a respected and devoted family practitioner, a loving family man, and an avid sports and gameshow fan. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, September 10th, 2022. Memorial Donations may be made in Dr. David Anthony Balaishis’ name to the MS Society of Canada. The family wishes to send a special thank you to his personal caregivers and the doctors and staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion.
David and I grew up together in Rochester, New york, and remained friends for the past 74 years. He was my “Best Man” and I his in our weddings. We remained friends through out the years there after in different countries and across the many miles, but our closeness will always remain in the many memories that I have. May God bless you, Dave and I’m positive your sufferings here on earth will give you a seat next to him in heaven. You surely earned it. May God bless you too Lynn, as well, and Daves entire family. They say time heals, but I’m sure the memories will last forever. May God bless.
David, I am imagining that David Michael, your parents, my parents, Uncle Frank and many others are celebrating your new lives together. I have many good memories of you, one of which was you and Linda hosting Bill and me on our 5th wedding anniversary when we came to see The Phantom of the Opera in Toronto. You are the epitome of devotion and perseverance. Perhaps Queen Elizabeth is greeting you this day. We will miss you. God bless.
Dr David Balaishis was an extraordinary person who will forever be held in our hearts. I first met David and Linda at The Cheesecake Factory in Woodland Hills. I enjoyed many Las Vegas vacations with them I loved his smile, wit and conversation. As a lover of sports and gambling David must have been proud to have beaten the odds so many times.
It was such a priveledge knowing Dr David Balaishis even though it was for a short period of time.
David would share fond mememories traveleing on many occasions with his family and friends.
His smile would light up the room talking about how he met Linda and how much he did his best to provide for his family.
He was glad he travelled as much as they did before his MS worsen.
I enjoyed our conversations regarding one of his favorite game show, Jeopardy. We would have chats about the 23 year old Mattea Roach winning streak and he would informe me how she won during each game show.
He truly was a brilliant man. I’m sure his legacy will live on through his family and closest friends.
RIP David and thank you for trusting in me.
You will be missed by many.
Linda, how strange life is…. I was up early this morning and turned my mind to both you and David. I wondered how he was doing and found that he had passed. I also learned that your son had passed and my heart stopped. This message comes late; but, the sentiments are still strong. I send to you and your family my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your wonderful and beloved David (and son David Michael). May their memory be a blessing to you. Sending you my love..
