January 25, 1944 – March 16, 2024
elevated SDUZb Dr. Hong Quy Bui died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness, surrounded by family on March 16th, 2024.
Dr. Bui earned his medical degree in Vietnam and practiced traditional Chinese medicine in Canada. He was affectionately known as Dr. Hong by his patients. He took great joy in helping others and understood the privilege of a physician’s work. The only roles he valued more were the roles of a loving father, doting grandfather, and dedicated husband. To his children, he was known as Pa, a gentle and patient father demonstrating love through acts of selflessness and care. To his grandchildren, Ajie was a fun jokester who loved to make the grandchildren laugh. He was a dedicated husband who faced life with perseverance and love. We would like to thank the palliative care team at Mount Sinai Hospital, West Park Hospital especially Dr. Peter Derkash, the team at Toronto Western Hospital and Cortelucci Vaughan Hospital for the wonderful care he received.
He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Khanh Bui and four children Dr. San Bui (Jesse), Dr. Mark Bui (Melody), Dr. Luke Bui (Ainee) and Dr. Esther Bui (Carlo) and his grandchildren Justin, Michael, Evan, Ethan, Madelaine, Russell, Sarah, Maylin, Hugo and Jacob.
