elevated Snb7H It is with sadness that his family announces the passing of Dunstan Anthony Bazely at the age of ninety-two years. Dunstan is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Miriam, his two daughters, Dawn (Peter) and Suzy (John), granddaughters, Madeleine (Eric) and Carolyn (Kiera), and sisters, Philomena (in the United Kingdom) and Patricia (in Australia).
elevated Snb7H Dunstan was born in Burma (Myanmar) to Nicholas, a senior mine administrator, and Benita. He was evacuated with his mother, brothers (Valentine, Alan, and John) and sisters (Babs and Philomena) to Calcutta (Kolkata), India in 1942. This childhood experience loomed large over Dunstan’s life, and in 2019 he and Miriam released a memoir of their lives entitled, From East to West and Places In Between (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50260857-from-east-to-west-and-places-in-between).
elevated Snb7H Dunstan spent his teen years in Kolar Gold Fields, and joined the Indian Air Force, in which he served for nine years. He met Miriam (née Paul) in Kolar Gold Fields, and they married in 1959. In 1961, Dunstan and Miriam emigrated to the United Kingdom with Dawn; Susan was born in 1962 in London. The family eventually settled in Sudbury, Middlesex, and Dunstan worked for engineering consultants, Elliott Automation, on instrumentation and control for power plants.
elevated Snb7H In 1974, Dunstan was recruited by Ebasco Engineering for his expertise in power generating station design. The family emigrated to Canada, settling in Mississauga, in the house where Dunstan lived for the rest of his life.
elevated Snb7H From a young age, Dunstan had a keen interest in photography, which became a lifelong passion. During the 1990s and 2000s, he devoted many hours volunteering in Greater Toronto Area schools, teaching mathematics, science, and photography to high school students.
elevated Snb7H Dunstan and Miriam returned to visit India in 2017, for the first time in fifty-six years. They thoroughly enjoyed the trip, generating the last chapter of their memoirs.
elevated Snb7H Dunstan held on to his independence fiercely, living at home until the end. We thank the Personal Support Workers from the Victoria Order of Nurses, the Home and Community Care Co-ordinators and medical support team, TransHelp Drivers, Paramedics and especially the wonderful community of neighbours: Sabrina, Zed and their children Ashley (Kosta), Andrew (Rebecca), Alicia and Aleta; Suseela, Vasantha and daughters Tharmiga and Jaraniya; Nancy and Dominic.

I am sorry to hear the news about Dawn’s father whom I met at his residence and hostel me for a lunch. I remember sharing our thoughts on India. He was fond of discussing things about history and photography. I send my sincere condolences to the family, and am praying for the departed souls.

It was a pleasure to have met Uncle Dunstan through you and mummy’s acquaintance.
He was full of life, even the walking stick didn’t slow him down.
He always wanted to do things, he never sat quietly.
Of course, that meant you were kept on your toes, too.

I’m not sure I replied to you. Thank you for your kind message, I remember Bob fondly when I used to meet him at UofT when Dawn was an undergraduate. He was always gracious and never to busy to have a word with me.

Our last phone conversation in the afternoon of Saturday, May 27th will always be in our hearts. We said that we will bring over some Hakka chillie chicken and enjoy them together like we did a few years ago in that Hakka restaurant in Brampton where you took us and we heartily enjoyed the food over gigglesand laughter….we guess it will have to be another time. You will be greatly missed.

I will remember Dunstan as a very kind hearted gentleman. He volunteered to be the photographer for my ordination to the priesthood. For this one kindness alone I will be forever grateful. I will celebrate a Mass here at St. Bernard’s for the repose of his soul.

Thank you for offering the UK family the opportunity to join Dunstan’s funeral service. I first met Dunstan and, most of the Bazely family, on Christmas Day 1972 at Bab’s and Edgar’s Christmas party. It was a joyous occasion and remember bringing in your wedding anniversary at midnight. Those happy memories will always stay with me. I know that both you and Dunstan had a special place for our darling Georgia and all the family. I will always remember you all with much fondness. May our Lord grant Dunstan eternal peace in his heavenly home and give you and the family spiritual strength and comfort at this sad time. With heartfelt condolences to you, Dawn, Suzy and family.

Thank you for joining us at the service for Dunstan. You are correct, Georgia did have a special place in our hearts and he was thrilled to dance with her at Bab’s and Edgar’s anniversary, if you remember. Our hearts were broken when we lost Georgia but they are all united now.

To Miriam, Dawn, Suzy and the entire family, please accept my condolences on Dunstan’s passing. I am sorry I was not able to attend the funeral in person. I have been on the road all month. I was able to watch the online webcast and it was nice to see some familiar faces and hear some familiar voices after all these years.
I knew Dunstan for pretty much my entire life. He was so full of knowledge on a wide range of subjects and always up for a lively debate. He will be greatly missed here on earth, but I know he will be enjoying his eternal reward in heaven.
