elevated 9fbnW The strongest heart we have ever known stopped beating, but the love it gave us never will.
elevated 9fbnW It is with the deepest sadness and broken hearts that we share the passing of our beautiful mother and matriarch, Edith “Edite” Alves. Our mother’s heart was both her greatest battle and her greatest gift. She fought with the heart of a fierce warrior and loved us with a heart of gold. She embodied resilience, living life with a resolutely positive spirit filled with gratitude for all of life’s blessings. She passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, September 17th, at Trillium Mississauga Hospital, surrounded by her family who loved her beyond measure.

elevated 9fbnW Edith will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Manuel “Davide” Alves, and her four adoring daughters, Marlene (the late; Michael), Stacie (Matthew), Lorraine (Jamie), and most importantly, her “sweet angel” Dianne. She will be dearly missed by her greatest joys, her four cherished grandchildren: Sophia, John, Samuel, and Gabriel.
elevated 9fbnW Finally, Edith is survived by her brothers, Luis (the late; Alcinda), José Manuel (Zelia), her siblings-in-law, Lucia (Nat), Luis (the late; Madalena) as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
elevated 9fbnW She joins in heaven those she deeply loved who have gone before her, including her parents, her in-laws, and her beloved son-in-law, Michael, who held a very special place in her heart. She is reunited with her three cherished sisters, Lucilia, Helena and her twin, Madalena. We take comfort in imagining the four Machado sisters together once again, and in knowing that Edith has been reunited with so many dear family members and friends who were waiting to welcome her home.
