elevated LUpV9 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Margaret Ambrosio on Monday December 21st at the age of 81 at Cummer Lodge in Toronto due to complications from Parkinson disease. Eileen was born in Montreal on October 28, 1939 to her parents Claude Rinfret and Kathleen Hughes. She is survived by her husband Joseph of 53 years, her children John, (Tina) Michael, Lorraine, (Donald) her brother Stephen Rinfret, (Joanie) her grandchildren William and Joseph, sisters’ in-law Toni, (Gordon) and Angela, and by her many nephews and nieces. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Claude Rinfret, (1984) and Kathleen Hughes, (1973) and by her sister Dorothy Martin (2003) (Jack) (2010).
elevated LUpV9 Eileen lived the first half of her life in Montreal, and the second half of her life in Toronto. She was a lifelong learner and could be heard on many occasions as we grew up saying that “if you want to know more and be a better writer, you should read more and more often.” She graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal and later worked in cardiology at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Fearing the referendum in Quebec and what unknowns it could bring, the family moved to Markham, Ontario in 1978. An overnight drive west on the 401 with three children in the back seat of a sedan (no mini-vans in those days) must have been low in amusement for everyone in that car.
elevated LUpV9 Joseph landed a new teaching job, and Eileen worked in and for numerous health care facilities. Scarborough Public Health, Providence Villa Hospital in Palliative Care, Street Health and lastly at Baycrest Hospital. Upon retirement, and as a lifelong learner, Eileen would sit in on lectures at the University of Toronto. Professors were at first reluctant for fear that Eileen was there to audit their courses, to which she would reply, “no, just here to learn some new information.” In retirement, Eileen would revel in all of her new found time for reading, and time spent with her family.
elevated LUpV9 Eileen was a kind and generous woman to all her family members and to all her friends. We are all fortunate to have been blessed to have known her and to be loved by her. We will miss her, and we will remember her forever.

I have not seen Leenie for many years but certainly remember her as being a very kind and caring woman. I am so sorry to hear about her passing and my sympathies go out to her husband Joe and her two children and their spouses. Rest in Peace Eileen.
