elevated OEkn7   Tuesday morning, November 10th, Elena, our mother, grandmother, cioce, mociute, pupa, pupyte, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto.  She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Vytas, and is survived by her son Eugene, daughter Loreta and grandchildren Indre, Juri, Simon and Larissa (Jonas).  Elena was born in Kaunas Lithuania. She emigrated after WW II to start a new life in Canada. She pursued a B.A. at U of T and also graduated from Teachers’ College.  She had a very successful teaching career at Weston Collegiate and retired as Languages Head at St. Joseph’s Morrow Park.  Elena was known for her intellect and zest for life.  She spoke 6 languages and there wasn’t a problem she couldn’t solve.  She was a kind, gentle soul, dearly loved by all who knew her.  So many people have shared fond memories of her many talents and her profound influence on their intellectual development.  She was the most gentle, unassuming, loving person, so soft-spoken and yet so impactful.  In her final years she resided at the Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home in Toronto.  Our  family is very grateful for the loving care she received from Lina Simonelis, Bay Haven Nursing Home in Collingwood and her final home at Labdara.  There will be a Funeral Mass On Saturday, November 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Anapilis-the Lithuanian Martyrs’ Catholic Church, 2185 Stavebank Road, Mississauga.  Visitation: 9:30-10:30 at Church, followed by burial at the adjoining cemetery.  If you would like to attend, please email Loreta (ldkon@yahoo.ca) or Eugene so that we can register your name.   We respectfully ask you to wear a face mask and to respect the social distancing rules.  If you wish, donations can be made to the Church or to Labdara.  “There is one true happiness in this life, to love and be loved….”
