elevated IoCmP October 18, 1930- May 20, 2020
elevated IoCmP It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandma and great-grandma, Ethel Granato on May 20, 2020 at The Village of Taunton Mills, Whitby, Ontario at the age of 89.
elevated IoCmP Born in Sea Cow Pond, PEI on Oct. 18, 1930, Ethel was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (nee Boyles) Hackett. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicola (Nick) Granato and is survived by her children Debbie (Randy), Nick and Kim (George), all of whom were proud to call her mom. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Victoria (Angelo), Matthew (Becka), Nicole (Keith), Diane (Wayne), Jennifer, Christina, Michael, Emily and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Mia, Tanya, Dana, Lisa, Selena, Jaylynn, Eli, James, Myles and Clark.
elevated IoCmP Ethel is also survived by her siblings, Sister Shirley Hackett CSM, Albert (Norma) Hackett and Carver (Joyce) Hackett and was predeceased by siblings, Marion Hackett, Roy Hackett, Mary LoForte, Mahala Cull, Melvin Hackett, John Hackett and Alfred Hackett.
elevated IoCmP Her greatest joy in life without a doubt was her family who she loved fiercely, followed by a close second which was her insatiable desire for sweets!
elevated IoCmP Due to the current circumstances with the ongoing pandemic, a celebration of life in honour of Ethel will be held in the future when it is once again safe to gather. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, a memorial donation to the SickKids Foundation would be much appreciated.

We are so sorry for your loss and want to share our condolences for your sweet mom. It’s so hard to lose a loved one, especially a parent and hope your wonderful family finds peace in all your beautiful memories. Love you guys and sending you all hugs❤️
Mrs. Granato along with the whole Granato family always made me feel welcome although I was not a true Bainer. I will always remember her warmth and her smile every time she greeted you. Her love and pride for her family was always evident. My last memory of her was meeting her, Deb and Kim in the lobby of Lakeridge Hospital. She tried so hard to remember who I was. I like to think she did as I will always remember her and her kindness. I look forward to celebrating her as soon as it is possible and I will bring something sweet in her memory to share in her memory. RIP Ethel. You will be missed. Kathie LeBlanc (Molloy)

So devastating to lose one’s mother!
Great memories are rushing in – your mom’s grand smile, her great laugh and the twinkle in her eye. She was an amazing and wonderful person and all of my family loved her.
She brought forth such amazing children! Her light shines through all of you – her devoted and loving children, Debbie, Kim and Nick as well as her darling grandchildren and great grand children.
Sadness abounds but I truly believe Ethel is at peace.
