elevated SX1VF It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Fernando De Santis on January 31, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1933 in Campo di Fano, L’Aquila, Italy. Loving husband of 62 years to Onella (nee DiNino). Caring and devoted father to Laura (Dominic De Filippis), Erminio, and Robert. Proud Nonno to Christopher (Cori), Daniel, Stephanie, Julia and Marco. Fernando will be lovingly remembered by his niece Mary and many family and friends.
elevated SX1VF Fernando immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Venezuela. He returned to Italy to marry his wife in 1959. Fernando worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. He was loved by many and known for being a very hard worker, very principled, generous and a kind man. Fernando loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Formula One and soccer, and was known for his prosciutto and gardening skills.
elevated SX1VF The family will receive friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home 211 Langstaff Road East (west of Bayview Ave.) from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday February 4, 2022. A Private Mass of Christian burial will take place within the funeral home in the Chapel of St. Joseph following visitation, by invitation only due to COVID restrictions.. The final rite of committal and interment will take place privately at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge Street Thornhill). We are saddened by the news of Fernando’s passing. Our condolences go out to his family and especially to Ornella, Laura and Domenic, Christopher, Daniel and Stephanie. We remember Fernando as a kind and friendly man who produced the very best prosciutto and other natural Italian delicacies.
We will remember him in our prayers and offer comfort to every member of his family knowing that he is resting in peace.
