Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Filippo on Tuesday March 7, 2023 at the age of 96. Beloved spouse of Catena of 70 wonderful years. Loving father of Mary (Carmen), Jennie (Marty) and Rita (Michael). Proud Nonno of Tania, Anthony (Annie-Laurie), Philip (Nicole), Mark (Alex), Karen (James), Andrew, Vanessa (Adam), Amy (Peter), Isabella (Jess) and Jack. Bisnonno of Cody, Andrew, Casey, Ellie, Eve, Hudson and Sheri. Filippo will also be missed by his brothers and all his nieces and nephews. Filippo immigrated to Canada in the early 50s to provide better opportunities for his family. Catena joined her husband in April 1953 where they started a new life together in Toronto. Filippo was quite the gardener, an outdoor enthusiast, and could “MacGyver” anything. Filippo will always live in our hearts and we will treasure all the memories we have had together.

Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of our Compare Filippo. I will forever treasure our memories of family home visits when we were growing up, as well as his garden tips and sharing his yield with us.I enjoyed his conversations and will remember his beautiful smile and his twinkle in his eyes. He had a strong work ethic, a love for his family and devotion to the ‘paesani. May his memories bring you forever comfort and know that he will always be with you as your Guardian Angel.
Compare Filippo, you have earned your wings, May you rest in eternal paradise. You will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all.

Dear Mary, Joe and Joseph, thank you so much for your very kind words about our dear dear. You certainly described him well. I too remember our family visits fondly. We used to play “school” in the basement while our parents visited upstairs. Thank you for all of your support these last couple of days. Really enjoyed reconnecting with you.
