elevated XkixG Flora left us for her new home with God on Thursday, June 29th, 2023.  After a courageous battle with cancer, Flora passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
elevated XkixG Beloved daughter of the late Agostino Scarangella, she is survived by her devoted mother, Angela and her brother Giacomo and sisters Angela and Tonia.
elevated XkixG Flora was a cherished daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, colleague, and neighbour.
elevated XkixG Born on November 1, 1961, Flora was the third of four children and brought immense joy to her family from her first breath.  She was inquisitive, funny, kind, and adventurous. Her warm and compassionate nature instantly drew people in and her willingness to help others left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she encountered.
elevated XkixG As a Human Resources Manager, Flora was an integral part of the St. Joseph Print family and always went above and beyond for others. Her professionalism, compassion, and ability to foster strong relationships with her colleagues made Flora a pleasure to work with every day. Â
elevated XkixG Flora enjoyed life and had boundless energy.  She was always looking for a new project to embark upon. She was a passionate gardener and baker, always sharing her bounty of seeds and recipes with everyone. She enjoyed travelling down South every winter and dipping her toes into the blue waters of the Caribbean.  She was the happiest sitting on her veranda with a cup of coffee in hand enjoying the fresh air and reading or talking with family and friends on the phone.  Â
elevated XkixG Flora faced each day with laughter, grace, strength, and an unwavering determination to never let her illness define her.  She inspired those around her with her bravery, optimism, and unwavering faith.
elevated XkixG Flora leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, kindness, and compassion.

Flora was a beautiful person inside and out. You’d always see her walking on Wintergreen. We will always cherish the childhood memories on Wintergreen. This biblical verse (Ecclesiasticus 6:5) may be aptly applied to Flora; she will be missed.
I met Flora years ago in yoga. She took pride in learning the practice and being her best self. Years later I learn that Jackie was her first cousin, a very dear friend of mind. I had the pleasure to reconnect with her. What a terrible loss. Please accept my sincerest condolences to the family. You are all in my prayers.

A Parable of Immortality – Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, “There she goes!” Gone where? Gone from my sight…..that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There she goes!” there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!”

I was saddened to hear the news of Flora. My deepest condolences to Tonia and the Scarangello family. I will miss her. Whenever we used to chat I would always be assured of a good laugh. I was looking forward to visiting St. Joseph Print over the next few weeks and catching up with the people I spent many years working with. I have fond memories of Flora and all the other staff. May she rest in peace.

My clearest memory of Flora as we grew through elementary and a few years of high school was her fierceness. I dreaded being the opposing team in field hockey, that’s for sure.
