I have always been proud to be part of a big family, and we all have Granny to thank for that.
I asked each of my cousins to share their favourite memory of Granny. I will read them starting from her oldest grandchild to her youngest.
Leslie
I remember summers in Canada as a kid spending time with Granny: she taking me downtown or to the mall, and making me feel at home. And always, Granny smiling and being happy, especially when she was with family.

Granny used to babysit me back home in the Philippines. It was raining outside, and the sidewalk was flooding. Granny said to me “Hmmm, what kind of people leave poop on the sidewalk!” Lo and behold, it was her 5-year-old grandson who could not hold it in any longer. I had an accident after waiting hours on end at the beauty parlour to get her hair done.

I used to look forward to Granny’s annual New Year’s Eve party. Before midnight, she would gather all the grandchildren in her living room carrying a big jar of coins. We would all line up in a row on the carpet, then she would grab handfuls of coins and toss them at us. We would spend the rest of the night counting and comparing who collected the most.
Stephanie
My memory of Granny is that we used to exercise together to her Jane Fonda’s Lean Routine videotape.
Steven
My greatest memories with Granny would be the countless times we shared a meal together. After I would assist her with her errands, she would insist we grab a bite to eat. Although it was one of three options (Burger King, McDonalds, or Barrio Fiesta), she would make sure I was well fed. I love you Granny, and the next cheeseburger is on me.
Patricia
I remember when Granny would come to visit us, and I would watch her get ready before our daily outing. She would show me how to put on eyelashes one at a time, and how she put rollers in her hair. Whenever I put on false eyelashes or rollers in my hair, I will think about Granny, and what a vibrant woman she was. Love you, Granny.

I fondly remember when Granny would come visit and stay at our house. She would use my room, and I would have to sleep in Andrew’s room. Whenever I returned back to my room after she left, the smell of her perfume would always linger, and it was like she was still there blessing us.
Andrew
Every time Granny would come to San Francisco, I would be the one to always make her breakfast. It would ALWAYS be the same thing: buttered pandesal and instant coffee. I am reminded now of how much she loved us, just like her pandesal and coffee.
Tiffany
My favourite memories include: spending time with Granny at her place when she would babysit me. She always had toys and computer games ready for me to play with. I always loved her positive attitude, cheerful smile, and warm laughter.
I visited Granny almost every day last week, and I am so grateful that I did. On Friday, we had a moment alone together. I sat by her bedside, and held her hand. I looked her in the eyes, and said I love you. She said I love you, too. So I said I love you more, Granny. Then she said I love you more. I told her that everything is going to be okay.
I wanted to share her last words with me because Granny loved every single person in this room, and we loved her more.
