Florentina “Florie” Valbuena passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Ajax, Ontario surrounded by her loving family. Florie grew up in Imus, Cavite in the Philippines alongside her younger brothers Nestor, Noli, and Jojie Topacio. In her youth, she studied as a nurse before devoting herself as a housewife to her loving husband Rommel, with whom she had her beloved only daughter, Cheryl. She, alongside her husband and daughter, immigrated to Canada in 1995 in search for a better life. In Canada, she would become the loving and proud grandmother/mamu of Cherisse and Mariel Teves.
elevated i5M1B Florentina is preceded in death by her parents, Lolita and Benjamin Topacio; and her brother Mario.
elevated i5M1B Florentina is survived by her husband, Rommel; her daughter, Cheryl; her son-in-law, Mark; her grandchildren, Cherisse and Mariel; and her brothers, Nestor, Noli, and Jojie.
elevated i5M1B Our family mourns the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. I (Cheryl) extend heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers that aided my mother and family during my mom’s strenuous battle with cancer. My gratitude also extends to all friends and family who have reached out, letting us know how loved my mother is.
