It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Francesco Palazzo, in Toronto on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 89 years and 11 months. He was born to parents Felice and Maddalena Palazzo on November 19, 1932, in Civitanova del Sannio, Italy. He was married to the late Angelina (nee Lastoria) on February 7, 1955. Frank is survived by his daughters Maddalena, Marisa (Rob), and Rita (Cordy); grandkids Michael, Alexander, and Angel; brother Anthony (Rina), Sisters-in-law Nella and Concetta. Predeceased by his parents and siblings Vince, Domenic, and Anna (Frank).
elevated HOz2a Frank’s family was his pride and joy. He was an amazing father and nonno. He also loved to garden and was the epitome of a green thumb as he was able to grow anything.
elevated HOz2a In October he would grow his beard and within two months he resembled either a burly biker or Santa Claus. Although his exterior was rough, he was the sweetest man you ever knew. Always with a chuckle or a prank to play on someone.
elevated HOz2a He will be missed by many. A true friend, brother, husband, father, and nonno. Truly an amazing person that was dearly loved. He is at peace and with our mother. We love you with all our heart, rest in eternal paradise.
elevated HOz2a The family will receive friends at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Rd E (west of Bayview Ave), Thornhill from 2:30 – 8:00 pm Friday October 21, 2022. A Funeral Mass will take place within the funeral home in the Chapel of St. Joseph at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 22. The final rite of committal and entombment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill.

Maddalena, Marisa, Rita and all your families, so sorry to hear about one more gone from such a close, caring neighbourhood.
We all watched our children grow up, get married and have their own children.
We all have many stories to tell about our time together.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of your dad. No words can possibly express the amount of sorrow your family is currently experiencing.
I’m hoping that the pain you are presently feeling, will in time lessen. I’m hoping that most of the pain will be replaced by the infinite memories you all have of your dad. The memory of your dad walking you down the aisle at your wedding. Memories of the first time your dad was introduced to his grandchildren. Shared memories of family gatherings. Memories of all the anniversaries you celebrated together as a united family.
Your dad’s memories will continue to live deep within your hearts, and his existence on this earth will go on through his children.

Mirroring my own family, Frank was a member of the Greatest Generation, hailed from the same part of Italy, and was surrounded by three daughters and a devoted wife. Like my father, he never complained and did everything in his power to raise a wonderful family. Frank was a kind and genuine soul, hard-working and took great pride in instilling his values in his three lovely daughters and cherished grandchildren. His idea of heaven on Earth was his lush and abundant garden; I will never understand how he grew such large zucchini. Enjoy the wealth of memories he left you while grieving his passing.

Not seeing Nonno Franco’s smiling face at Christmas, your gut chuckle over a simple joke, your grunt to have a glass of your wine and best homemade prosciutto – you will be absent but your presence and spirit will always be with us.
