elevated AgFg5 Obituary

elevated AgFg5 Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 11, 2021, at the age of 90 at Mackenzie Health Hospital. Beloved husband of 54 years to Bambina. Caring and devoted father to Teresa (John), Pina (Stephen) and Lisa (Paul). Proud Nonno to Ryan, Daniel, Sophia, Abigail, and Samuel. Cherished brother-in-law to Angelina, Carmela, and Maria. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and the United States, including those who predeceased him.

elevated AgFg5 As the last surviving member and the youngest of his family, Gabriele will be reunited in heaven with his loving parents Crescenzo and Teresa and his siblings Vincenzo (Lucia), Gioacchino (Filomena), Maria, Filomena (Antonio), Father Giuseppe, Geraldina (Giovanni), and Paolo. He will also be joining his infant daughter Sandra, parents-in-law Tomasso and Carmela, brothers-in-law Valentino, Gabriele, and Mario, and sister-in-law Marianna.

elevated AgFg5 Born in the small town of Sora, Italy, Gabriele immigrated to Manitoba in 1955 after spending 4 years as a miner in Belgium. Like many others of his time, he moved to Canada on his own in search of a more prosperous life for himself and his family.  He worked hard to sponsor his mother and brothers and together they created a new life in Toronto. He was a fiercely proud Canadian. Over 30 years passed before he first returned to his homeland.

elevated AgFg5 Gabriele was a smart and humble man who led a simple but fulfilling life. He worked hard his entire life and retired at 65. He later became a school crossing guard for 10 years at the age of 70. In his retirement years, he spent his days reading the newspaper, tending to his cherished garden, and swimming laps at the local pool.

elevated AgFg5 Gabriele was a warm and caring man with a large and loving heart. His infectious smile would light up a room. He was devoted to his loving wife and was a proud family man. His daughters and grandchildren meant the world to him. He embraced his sons-in-law with open arms. He loved his extended family deeply and was always there to support them. There are decades worth of cherished memories of celebrations and time spent laughing together, often over homemade wine.

elevated AgFg5 Gabriele will be greatly missed.  He will forever remain in the hearts of his loving family and all who knew him.

elevated AgFg5 A special thank you to all the nurses and staff of the C3 Medicine and Palliative Care units at Mackenzie Health for their kind and compassionate care and support.

elevated AgFg5 In Memory of Gabriele, family and friends are welcome to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society http://www.alzheimer.ca or a charity of your choice.
