elevated re8Br It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gabi. She passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021 at her home in North York, Ontario. Gabi was predeceased by her parents, Imre and Matilda Muranyi. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, daughter, Erika (Simon) and by her grandchildren, Conrad and Greta. She is also survived by her brothers, Imre (Sylvie), Andrew (Tommy and Andrea), Steve (Shelly), nieces Julie (Olivier) and Lori (Lacy), and godsons Zoltan and Daniel.
elevated re8Br Born in Debrecen Hungary on February 9, 1947, Gabi immigrated to Montreal, Canada in the late 1950s. She spent the early part of her life working at Bell Canada as an outside plant planning consultant. Her passions included camping with her family in her Volkswagen van while exploring parts of Algonquin Park and the east coast of Canada / US. After retirement Gabi enjoyed travelling the world. Some of her most memorable destinations included Japan, Australia, Italy, France and Hungary.
elevated re8Br Gabi was known for her culinary skills and artistic talent. Events at the Pataki household always included delicious meals from Gabi’s kitchen. She also enjoyed pursuing her creative talents in both painting and sculpting.
elevated re8Br Generous, loving and loyal, Gabi brought joy and kindness into the lives of all those who were fortunate to have known her. She will be greatly missed for her kind disposition, generous spirit and love that she shared for her family and friends.
elevated re8Br Gabi and her family would like to express great thanks to all of those who helped her along in her journey. Those at the Providence Centre who provided great comfort and care under Dr. Brodie as well as Wendell and his team (Zhenna, Joy, Eileen and Bernalyn) for the kindness and support that they provided in Gabi’s final weeks.
elevated re8Br Visitation to be held at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. Due to Covid-19 capacity restrictions, we are inviting friends to pay their respects, offer condolences and then kindly exit the building to allow for others to enter. An invitation-only funeral mass will take place for immediate family with entombment at a later date in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

From the staff, volunteers and members of the Aphasia Institute – I want to express how sorry we are to hear of Gabi’s passing. Gabi generously gave her time, creativity and enormous heart to her volunteer work in our art program at AI. I know how much she enjoyed her volunteer work and I so miss hearing her stories of her amazing travels and her grandchildren. Our sincere condolences to Joe and to all of Gabi’s family.
