elevated hLbaz Obituary

elevated hLbaz It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our dear friend, uncle, brother and most loving husband George Callan.

elevated hLbaz George will leave a void in the hearts of his family; his loving wife of 47 years Bridie, his Brother Martin, his Sisters Maggie Green, Pamela Callan, and Donna Casey(Kieran). His brother in laws; the late Daniel (Lena), Patrick (Alice) and Kieran Collumb (Kathleen). He will also leave behind many many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

elevated hLbaz George died suddenly after a short illness while convalescing at Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Centre.  George was a compassionate, strong and brave person who battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years.  Despite his illness and his loss of mobility, George remained positive, upbeat and happy right up to his passing.  His sense of humour and warm smile greeted everyone who would drop by to visit him.  Over the years, along with his special caregivers, George became an avid painter with numerous works of his displayed throughout their home.  George even exhibited his works for the public at a Charity event where his paintings were well received by friends and visitors. To his surprise, he even sold a a few pieces which made him smile and give that wink that only George could give.

elevated hLbaz Born in Co. Derry N. Ireland, George immigrated to Canada in 1970 where he was reunited with the love of his life Bridie. He attended the University of Toronto where he obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering.  He went on to work for Ontario Hydro up until he took early retirement as a result of his illness.

elevated hLbaz George’s memory will continue in the hearts and minds of all of his family.  His strength, warmth, compassion and bravery should be a source of inspiration for all of us.

elevated hLbaz The family would like to thank all of his Doctors and Caregivers for all of their dedication and compassion over the years. A special thank you to our dear friends Gary Nair, Jonathan Doroton and the Forkan Family whose love and support continues.

elevated hLbaz The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
