Obituary
George M. Remedios, 79, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Toronto on June 13, 2026, after a stroke.  He is survived by his sister Doreen and brother Robert (Connie) and nieces and nephews and his extended Tsui/Chui family. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Lizaura Remedios and older brother, Sonny.

elevated viMbD George was a scholar and academic and loved everything about learning.  He was educated by the La Salle Brothers and graduated from the prestigious Hong Kong University.   He was a beloved teacher at Maryknoll Fathers’ School and a member of many local and global Groups. 

elevated viMbD He arrived in Canada in the early 1970’s and attended the University of Toronto where he graduated with a Masters of Library Science degree.  His professor gave him an A++ and said that in all his years of teaching at the University he has never ever given a student such a high grade.   George worked in summer jobs in Manitoba and Saskatchewan before accepting a position as a Librarian in the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.

elevated viMbD When he returned to Toronto in the1980’s, he worked as a Librarian for the Toronto District School Board until his retirement in 2003.  George loved the arts and classical music and his passion was to attend all productions of the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, various Choirs and live performances from the NY Metropolitan Opera.

elevated viMbD George will be missed by his many friends in Canada/U.S., Hong Kong, Europe and around the world.
