It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our father Gerald Francis McGuire on October 15, 2026, at Georgian Bay General Hospital at the age of 85. Loving father of Sheilagh (Shawn), Kathleen (Simon), Christine (Lou), late Jerry (late Joy), Maureen (late Andrew), Paul, and Janet (Andrew). Proud grandfather of Deanna, Shannon, Kayla, Ashley, Megan, Justin, Tyler, Ryan, Nathaniel and Brendan and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Joe, Patrick, Bridgette, Chris, Dan, John, Tom and Mary. Gerry will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of his extended family and friends.

Gerry was my very good friend here in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and we managed to keep in touch when he moved up north. I will always remember him fondly, and smile when I think of all the laughs we shared at Branch 124 together. He loved his children very much, and I’m sending them all my deepest condolences at this difficult time.
Uncle Gerry was such a memorable character in our family and now the last of his many siblings to leave this world. My condolences to all his children and everyone who loved him. May he rest in peace.
As I read Gerry’s obituary my thoughts were filled with memories of the McGuire and Shipley families. So many fond memories over so many years but, one in particular stands apart….the day Gerry brought home a life sized statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a character!
With deepest sympathy and love,
Lynn
