elevated TOGuw It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard Walter Glynn on March 26, 2025.
elevated TOGuw Gerry passed peacefully at home, having spent his last weeks surrounded by his wife Janet; John and Helen (son and daughter-in-law); and Julia and Ryan (daughter and partner). He remains in the thoughts and prayers of his extended family.
elevated TOGuw During those last weeks, we had time, as a family, to share our favourite memories, and warmly reflect on the myriad of sports, vacations, hobbies and adventures we enjoyed together, including skiing, golfing, hiking, badminton, tennis and of course the latest craze of pickleball! Gerry had two particularly favourite pastimes. The first was to research wine and organize tasting and pairing evenings with his family. The second was to set up the puzzle table at the cottage, where he had a second seat at the ready, welcoming anyone who wished to join in. Between cottaging, international travel, attending his children’s educational and sporting events, and dedicating himself to growing one of the most successful Canadian distribution businesses, it is easy to conclude that he enjoyed the fullest of lives.
elevated TOGuw We will honour Gerry’s character by embracing the principles and values he embodied – independence, education, tenacity, ethics, integrity, loyalty and for those who knew him well, a seemingly endless depth of logic, stoicism and clever wit.
elevated TOGuw In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation whose website can be found at PMCF.CA
elevated TOGuw The family extends their utmost thanks to the Nurses and Doctors of Caring Hands, Jasmine Hospice, Doctors’ Hospital (Cayman Islands), Princess Margaret Hospital and Toronto General Hospital (Toronto).

God’s blessings on your soul, dear Gerry.

I worked with Gerry at Data and always admired his talent and drive—it was inspiring. I once found him an old lawyer’s desk for his office, which he liked so much he kept it when he moved to his new house. Gerry taught me a great deal about business, and I’ve carried those lessons with me ever since.
After he left the company, my wife and I visited Gerry and his family at their new home. I brought him a Lawn-Boy Gold mower, knowing full well Gerry had no intention of ever cutting the lawn himself. That was Gerry—sharp, focused, and always a step ahead.
I’m 70 now and just starting a new business venture. I was hoping to get Gerry’s advice, only to learn he had passed away in March. My sincerest condolences to his wife Janet, his children, and all who loved him. He left a lasting mark.
Dear Janet, John and Julia. We just learned of Gerry’s passing and were so shocked and saddened. We are thinking of you and know you must be missing him terribly. The parting is heartbreaking even when you have time to spend together and share love and memories. All the best, Roberta, Marvin and Kendra
