God called Giovanni peacefully on December 4th, 2022, at the age of 89. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Carmelina. Cherished by his dear children, Alfonzo (Maria Antonella) and Lina ( Tony Bertuzzi). Proud Grandfather to Anthony, Melissa, and the late Jonathan, Michael (Jessica), and Isabella (Natale). Giovanni is reunited with his late sibling Paolo. He is cherished by his sister-in-law, Angela. He will be held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives, and many friends here and in Italy.
Giovanni immigrated from his hometown of Monteleone di Puglia, Italy to Toronto, Canada in March of 1952. He came to Canada to build a better life for his family. Giovanni worked all his life as a hard-working brick layer, often working two jobs. Family and friends knew Giovanni as a figure of strength and determination, always generous, reliable, and with a good sense of humour. He always enjoyed playing Italian card games, attending his social club, going for walks outside, and spending time with his family. He always put family first and took great pride in his children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the Gallo family would appreciate donations in memory of Giovanni be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada
Compare Giovanni will always be a big part of our childhood memories.. We will never forget his Niagara Falls trips with all the young guys in the back of his pickup…such a lovely person …may he RIP.. our condolences to all the family 🙏🏻🙏🏻From Comara Gina Ciccarelli and family .
