It is with heavy heart and a profound sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of Giovanni (John) Bonaiuto on November 3rd 2025 at the age of 67. Giovanni (John) passed away at the Hospice Quinte surrounded by family.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) Bonaiuto was born on January 24 1958 in Pachino Sicily.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) Bonaiuto was the late son of Francesco and Giovanna Bonaiuto.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) had 6 sisters and 4 brothers.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) was married to his beloved wife Marla for 39 years he was also a loving father to his 2 children Jonathan and Rosa, he was also a dog daddy to his buddy Gunner amazing nonno to his grandson Jaxton and great uncle to all his nieces and nephews.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) loved to travel to Myrtle Beach and Florida with Marla as well as taking walks with Gunner. Giovanni (John) was a family man hard worker.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) loved sports especially hockey and his #1 team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also liked spending time in a hockey rink watching his son Jonathan play.
elevated sIgt0 Giovanni (John) was a special person and touched many people he will be missed by all.

John was my godfather and he never missed a birthday or a Christmas. After I opened my gift he’d say “oh is that what we gave?” with a wink as we all knew it was Marla doing the shopping.
John helped me get my first job and that led to many amazing experiences I wouldn’t have had without him. I always felt he had my back, like the day after my Grandpa had passed away I noticed John cleaning the hall outside my classroom more than usual, just so he had an eye on me. And it was never lost on me that on hot days I’d always magical find an extra fan in my classroom in the morning.
He always bragged about his family, telling us about Jonathan’s latest hockey accomplishment or later his business successes. The last few visits I had with John the bragging had moved to Jax, with him sharing many photos and videos. He once told me he never said no to Marla and that he would do anything she wanted, and then told me about the snowstorm he drove through because there was a sale she wanted to attend!
Family events won’t be the same and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the many teachers and students who all cared about “Mr B”.

My condolences to the family and friends of Johnny. He was a great friend and support to me when I started at Woburn Jr in 2008. The children in the EarlyON Centre knew him fondly as Mr. B and appreciated all the visits he would make to our room to say hello to the little ones.
You are greatly missed and thought of with kindness. Rest in peace Johnny.

Dear bereaved family, a heartfelt condolences to all of you. John or Johnny as we lovingly called him,was a God sent special Superhero I saw him as. He knew all about cars and everything. Once my car was stuck on black ice when he heard, he took my keys and drove back to school like magic.

We are deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. Although we did not know John for very long. He was more than just a neighbour—he was a good friend whose warmth, humour, generosity and easygoing spirit made every day a little brighter.
John had a real love for life, whether he was talking about his love for his pickup truck, sharing stories about his fast cars, or out enjoying the day with his dog, Gunner.
He’ll be remembered not just for what he loved, but for the way he treated people—with kindness, honesty, and a genuine heart.
Rest peacefully, John. You’ll be missed by all but your memory and spirit will always ride on in our hearts.

I am so sorry to hear that John passed. I worked in the Kindergarten across from his office. We use to tease each other about the Leafs. My condolences to the family
I remember John with great fondness and a smile. He was someone I could always count on to help me out when I worked at Woburn for many years. If I mentioned on my way in that, I had a rental car and somebody had scratched it, before I knew it he was out there on his break, buffing out the scratch for me. There was another time where I arrived at school during a snowstorm, my wiper had broken off because of the ice, He used his lunch hour to go buy me a new wiper blade and during his break installed it for me. John often shared with me how much he loved his wife and family. And he always had a very direct way of letting you know what he thought about things. I would tease him about his stereotypical and old-fashioned Italian attitude. And we always did this with a joking, respectful manner, even when we had very different points of view about things.
He put up with my having ducks and chickens and a bunny, in my class for many years. This meant extra cleaning in my room, even when I tried to keep it as clean as possible so he grump, but he understood that it was for the kids.
He was a great guy and I am sorry that his family didn’t get to spend more time with him after his work days were over. Sending my heart felt condolences to all of you.
