It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Giovanni (John) Pianosi on February 2nd 2025 in his 95th year. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.

elevated UC05e Born April 13th, 1929 in Falcineto, Italy, to Teresa Peroni and Duilio Pianosi.  He was the youngest of three siblings, predeceased by his sister Fernanda and brother Ezio.

elevated UC05e He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor, and four children; Joanne (Kim), Ian (Niki), Cristina, and Giova (Nancy), seven grandchildren; Alexine (Mike), David (Alice), Michael, Deanna (Christina), Gianni, Alessandro (Meghan), and Roberto (Stephanie), and two great-grandchildren; Emilyn and John (his namesake) and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he adored.

elevated UC05e His journey is a story of strength, survival, triumph, love, family, friendship, travel, and a perpetual fascination with the great outdoors.  

elevated UC05e Despite the challenges he faced as a young man, including the death of this father when John was 4 years old, and the aftermath of the Second World War in Italy, John defied the odds and persevered to build a successful life in Canada.

elevated UC05e  He was a true builder in more ways than one, founding a successful business, many lifelong friendships, and most important to him, his family. 

elevated UC05e  He was an avid outdoorsman with a great draw to the wilderness and a love for Canada.  He travelled all corners with his friends, family, and dogs.  

elevated UC05e He leaves us with an abundance of great memories and we will be forever inspired by his spirit, courage, and inner strength.
