I’m truly saddened to hear this disheartening loss. John Vercillo was my professor for Audio Editing when I was first enrolled in Humber College – North Campus for the Broadcasting – Radio program in 2018. He also taught me in second year before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. John was an amazing professor and I will always fondly remember him admiring my special calendar talent skill. May John be at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father and Our Saviour. May God comfort you all during this sad and difficult time. Thoughts and prayers, Stefan Tomasi
Uncle D
I just found out through one of my past radio colleagues that John passed. Heartbreaking news. I worked with John back in my days of Talk 640 and Q107 and learned a lot from him and audio production. Very fond memories. Rest well brother.
My deepest condolences and sympathies to the Vercillo family.
I had the pleasure of learning from John at Humber, and working with him briefly at Corus.
John was/is a fundamental portion of our education at Humber College for the Radio Broadcasting program.
The visits to Corus in his studio gave young broadcasters the opportunity to know the difference of what the major leagues felt like.
Although the students didn’t know at the time, we were in the presence of an industry titan.
John made sure to answer every question you had, take the time to make sure you knew what was what, and did it all with a finesse that was incredible.
I thank him for his contributions to not only my education, but other lucky students/colleagues who had the opportunity to spend time with this wonderful man.
In all of our opinions, he’s a first ballot Canadian Broadcasting hall of fame inductee; and an incredible man.
A tremendous loss.
Thank you for all you’ve done Verch.
I am truly saddened by hearing that John has passed away. I remember him as being so welcoming when I first started working at Corus and such a positive energy whenever we ran into each other in the hallways. He would always stop and talk, no matter what kind of hurry he was in and was a joy to work with in the recording booth. My heart goes out to his family, John was a wonderful human being.
Dear Brother
It is with a heartfelt goodbye to a life celebrated with many memories. Thank you, brother, for being a friend, mentor and always the voice of reason during difficult times. Your witty humor will sadly be missed and always be remembered as it always made things easier when things were difficult to deal with. Brother, you will always have a special place in my heart. “No more suffering brother, Rest in Peace”.
Our sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear John. He was such a sweet and caring neighbour. We are thinking and praying for you all during this very difficult time. May he Rest in Eternal Peace.
With all our love, Danny, Linda, Lauren and Audrina Donatucci
I’m very sad to hear about the passing of John and my sincerest sympathies to his family and all who knew him. I worked with John for many years as he was an amazing producer for sure. I was always impressed with his patience especially with clients and his way of doing his profession. I’m so glad I had to the chance to know John and work with him all those years. He was most certainly a real pleasure to be around.
To Marisa and her family we send our heartfelt condolences. May God give you strength during this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers, Sina and Richard Lachcik.
John was the first professor I had at Humber and I couldn’t have been happier. He helped shape me as a radio producer and always had my back. I never thought that him and I would work together so closely in Toronto with both of us working together at Corus. He was a mentor, a leader, a true friend and a great producer full of stories and laughs. I will cherish all the memories I have of him and can only speak great things about him. My thoughts and condolences to the entire family.
What a wonderful soul. Deeply talented and kind.
Our deepest thoughts and condolences to Marisa and the family with the passing of a great man. I worked with John for many years at Q107 and never had such a great co-worker and friend. Was so happy when we went to their wedding and had so much fun. May he rest in peace.
John was my audio editing professor at Humber, and was truly one of the good ones. He stayed after class to help you if you needed it, he was brutally honest if your commercial wasn’t that good, and he always took the time to have a conversation with you after class or in the halls. The radio industry lost one of the best mentors, and the world lost a good person.
Rest in peace, sir.
I was colleague of Johns for the past 8 years at Corus Entertainment. He was always available to help out with projects, provide creative options to get audio production off the ground or to completion. I loved chatting with him when we worked together or just meeting up in the hallway etc. Sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to family and all who knew John.
What a great loss to our radio family.
John Vercillo was my production professor when I was in radio school at Humber, then my co-worker at Q107 and 102.1 The Edge, and later my colleague when I began teaching alongside him at Humber. He always got such a kick out of me during our Teams meetings, laughing whenever I’d pipe up to open my big mouth.
John was an incredible human being, endlessly talented, kind, and a true mentor and radio brother. I always loved running into him outside the station or Humber, usually at sushi where he’d be out on a dinner date with his beautiful wife.
I’m going to miss him deeply and will always cherish our moments together in the studio, him behind the board and me behind the mic. 💔
I am so sorry to hear this news. John was part of our incredible Radio Broadcasting faculty at Humber during my capacity as Program Coordinator. He was truly a gentleman and inspirational to so many students. My deepest condolences and prayers to his family at this time.
Condolences to the Vercillo family.
John was a talented, kind, gentleman – we were better for knowing him.

John and I have known each other for almost 20 years. First, he was my professor at Humber College. Later he was my co-worker when I was hired at Corus. Then, he became my friend. One of the finest people I’ve ever met in my life – and a guy who could produce a spot like nobody’s business (sorry about the revisions, John). Thanks for helping this once clueless young man gain knowledge in the radio industry. I’ll miss our chats and your jokes about the Toronto Blue Jays and Leafs. My condolences to John’s family and friends.
John brought warmth and positivity to every room. He always had time for a conversation and a laugh. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Condolences to John’s family and those closest to him. Such a wonderful person.
An all around great soul…he was my friend and his positive energy and talent made the world around him a better place…he’s one of those people whose path I crossed that left an indelible mark…rest easy my brother.
John was a super encouraging professor. The kind of person to always take a little extra time for you. It hurts to see him go.
One of the sweetest human beings I have ever known and worked with – at Humber and Corus. The list is long of those whose lives and careers he touched and nourished. Always a bright star. You will be very missed John, and to your family – thank you for sharing such a wonderful mentor.
A legend like no other. John was what radio production is all about. His ability to hear things took our industry to a whole different level. Not only did he leave a legacy, he made all of us better. Radio will never be the same without his immaculate attention and his love for teaching generations what he knew. John, we already missed you and we’ll miss you even more.
I am saddened to learn of John Vercillo’s passing.
John’s warm nature, patience, good-humour and pure talent at AM640/Q107 never went unnoticed by me. He helped me personally with several production elements for my morning show(s), and always rolled his sleeves up to get it done right with a positive vibe. And laughs.
Thank you John. May your memory be a blessing.
My condolences to John’s family and his radio colleagues who join me in honouring his professionalism and kindness.
Sincere condolences to John’s family and friends. Worked with him during the 1990’s, and was glad to see him again in recent years at Corus. A true audio professional!
Sending my deepest condolences to John’s family.
John was my teacher back in 2002 at Humber College and played such a tremendous role in shaping everything I learned there. I’ve often thought about him over the years, his guidance, his passion for radio and the impact he made on so many of us. This is such a great loss for the radio industry and for everyone lucky enough to have known him
I have so much respect for John’s talent and humanity. Always positive and sharing of his production knowledge for anyone who cared. Johns legacy will live in all of us who knew and loved him. Truly one of a kind. He will be greatly missed. RIP my dear friend.
One of the good one’s. Deepest sympathies to the Vercillo family. John was one of the kindest and most gentle souls. We are lucky to have known him. Rest in peace John.
My condolences to the family. I had the pleasure of working with John at Q107 fresh out of Humber. Began my sales career there as a naive 20 year old kid. John treated me like a 20 year radio veteran from the start. Always a joy to be around and the best in his profession. RIP John.
Johnny V! Never, ever in a bad mood the 2 yrs I was at Humber. Always came in with a smile and good spirits. The only thing trumping his talent was his character. So sad to hear this news. Condolences to his family and friends.
Marisa Anthony and the whole Vercillo Family our heartfelt condolences to yous for the loss of John.. no words to say just sadness.a wonderfull person that he was RIP John..
Phil And Fernanda Macchiusi..
My sincere condolences to the Vercillo family in the loss of their beloved John. I had the distinct pleasure of working with John for many years at Q107 and he was a true kindred spirit through and through. Please know that the world was a better place because John was in it. He will be truly missed.
Deeply shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family and to everyone who knew him. John was such a wonderful teacher who treated everyone with kindness and respect. He truly believed in all of us, and that’s something I’ll never forget.
He was such a genuinely nice person.
Sending love to you all.
John was a quiet talent. He was a world class producer and an awesome kind man.
This is such sad news. My love to his family and friends. 🥹
I’ll never forget learning from John at Humber College. A wonderful man who wanted to get the best of his students. Always willing to lend a hand and provide the necessary critiques to get better.
As a radio lifer, we in the school were better off having learned from him.
Prayers to his family in this difficult time but I hope it can provide you some smiles knowing the impact he had on so many individuals.
Rest in Peace, John
John will be greatly missed. I was a member of the Radio Humber Class of 2023 and had the pleasure of knowing John. I always enjoyed our casual conversations about the industry and just “talking shop” with him. John was a wonderful person and great teacher. He really supported me in my journey and I really enjoyed every class with him and every conversation thereafter. May he rest in peace, his legacy will never be forgotten. A truly wonderful person.
I was a student of John’s at Humber, and then a colleague at Corus when I worked at Q107. He was a gentleman and a lovely, lovely guy. Condolences to all that loved him.
Marisa and John’s entire family, John’s absence is enormous. We worked together at CFGM 1320 for three year starting in 1985. Nothing was impossible to accommodate with John. His upbeat spirit helped all of us have a blast under Greg Slaight’s station.
Despite his pain, he delivered cheerfully without complaints.
John, you endured so much.
We are thankful and better people because of you. Your struggle is finished. You found peace. You are missed, already.
My deepest condolences to you Anthony and your family during this time. Wishing you peace and comfort.
My heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends. A dedicated instructor and esteemed colleague, his talents, generosity and sense of humour will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
My sincere sympathy to Marisa and all of John’s family. John was a gem. A highly accomplished and respected colleague in both education and radio. He was a caring and dedicated educator; brilliant audio producer. He will be remembered well.
I was incredibly saddened to learn of John’s passing. I was fortunate enough to have him as an instructor at Humber back in ’02.
To say he was passionate about production, the radio industry, and the students he guided, would truly be an understatement. Always smiling, so humble & down to earth..what a tremendous loss for the industry, all who those who knew him.
Sending my deepest condolences 🤍
Without question, one of the best people to learn from–and work with–in Canadian broadcasting.
My deepest sympathies to John’s friends and family at this difficult time.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Vercillo family. I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain. John was an inspirational part of our Humber College family. We share in your loss. Rest in peace my friend.
