elevated rXBmr In Loving Memory of Giulia Dichio

elevated rXBmr April 12, 1941 – Feb 12, 2024

elevated rXBmr It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Giulia, a beloved sister, wife, mother, and Nonna, who departed this world on February 12, 2024 at the age of 82, two months shy of her 83rd birthday.

elevated rXBmr Giulia was born to Vittoria and Vincenzo Andrisani in Montescaglioso, Italy. At the age of 18, in 1958, accompanied by her brother Tony, she embarked on a journey to Canada, leaving behind her parents for a better life. Giulia settled in Canada and found work in the garment industry as a skilled seamstress. In 1962, Giulia returned to Montescaglioso to marry her strong-willed husband, Rocco. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Giulia was a devoted wife to Rocco who sadly passed away in 2013. She continued to live a full life after he died.

elevated rXBmr Giulia’s brother Pietro died in August of 2023. She is survived by her children Rose (Paul), Peter, and Vince (Jennifer), grandchildren Rebecca, Rachel, Erica, Julian, and Daniele, as well as her siblings Maria, Tonino, Franca (Paolo), and Joe (Carmela), and many other extended relatives.

elevated rXBmr Giulia’s days were filled with gardening, housework, cooking, baking, knitting, and enjoying her favorite shows on TV. She was enormously proud of her 3 children. She was a hardworking and loving Nonna, and had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and sharing her life stories. Whenever they visited, she always made sure she had Milano cookies and ice cream sandwiches ready for them. Giulia had a wonderful sense of humour and a stubbornness to her that became a hallmark of her personality. She loved celebrations, socializing with her siblings, and making meals for her loved ones. She enjoyed going to Fortinos and Grande Cheese finding the latest sales in the local flyer, and talking on the phone with distant relatives and family members, lighting up whenever someone familiar was on the other end. She found joy in playing lottery and was shocked when she won $500 from a single ticket. Her heart will live on in the memories of those she leaves behind.

elevated rXBmr The family would like to thank the hardworking and caring staff at Cortelluci Vaughan Hospital, as well as those at West Park Healthcare Centre for their dedication to Giulia and her family these past 8 months. And to Lia who spent her Saturdays sitting bedside, keeping Giulia company in her last few weeks. We are eternally grateful for your kindness.

elevated rXBmr Giulia’s heart will live on in the people she leaves behind and the memories she has left us with. The world has lost a remarkable sister, mother and Nonna. May she rest in peace.

elevated rXBmr In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family. http://www.heartandstroke.ca
