elevated SSCr9 Obituary

elevated SSCr9 Giuseppe Dissegna passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at Dorothy Ley Hospice in Toronto, Ontario.

elevated SSCr9 Born in Romano d’Ezzelino, Italy on May 14th, 1938, he spent 87 magnificent years in this world. He lived his early years in Italy and eventually made his adventurous move to his life in Canada.

elevated SSCr9 Cabinetmaker by trade, he was a creative soul who loved to build, tinker, repair and always kept busy beautifying his home.  His garden and backyard were his haven where he meticulously and lovingly nurtured his tomatoes, grapevines and fruit trees. He spent endless summers obsessing over his perfectly groomed lawn.

elevated SSCr9 He later took his talents to a passionate new interest and hobby and enrolled into painting lessons.  His art and style developed over time. To this day we are all honoured to hold on to the beauty of his imagination and brush strokes as he leaves behind a multitude of canvases exhibiting so many landscapes, portraits, meadows and still life paintings that grace the walls of his home and loved ones.

elevated SSCr9 Giuseppe leaves behind his beloved wife Sophie Borzecki married for 21 amazing years and will be sadly missed by her vast family who adored him. Loving father to his son Davide Dissegna and daughter Ivana Janjic (nee Dissegna).  He was a sweet and funny Nonno to his five grandchildren. He leaves behind siblings in Italy and will reunite with those that passed before him. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and the many, many friends he made along the way. He was preceded in death by his late and beloved wife Rina Dissegna (nee Businaro).

elevated SSCr9 We wish to ask that in lieu of sending flowers please consider donating in his honour to Dorothy Ley Hospice. We cannot thank them enough for their warmth, care and compassion extended to him in his final weeks spent there. Click here to donate.
