elevated 0s3ac It is with deep sadness and regret that the family of Giuseppe Ferri announces his passing on March 25th, 2024, at Sunnybrook Hospital, after a courageous battle. He was 91 years old. Born on September 12th, 1932 in Introdacqua, Abruzzo, Italy, Giuseppe is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Incoronata Tina Ferri, his two children, Luciano (Nicole) and Candida (Randy), and his four grandchildren, Gillian (Joseph), Alexander (Brittany), Robert (Ola), and Nicholas. He also leaves behind his sister Bambina Tavolacci, his sisters-in-law, Maria (Giacomo) and Delia (Luigi), as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews.

elevated 0s3ac Giuseppe arrived in Canada in 1953 at the age of 21. Upon arrival, he started his journey in Montreal, where he would meet Tina on May 18th, 1954. They would later marry in 1957, spend their honeymoon in Toronto – and never leave – making it their “forever honeymoon” home.

elevated 0s3ac He joined the Metro Toronto Works Department in 1961, learning all the underground hidden secrets of the city. He would proudly talk about how he helped build and care for many of the city’s landmarks, including Toronto Island. He would go on to spend 32 years working his way up to Supervisor in the Water Department, before retiring in 1993.

elevated 0s3ac In his early days, Giuseppe loved to go hunting with his family and friends. What he would come to be most proud of was his back garden, taking time to pot and plant all the seeds himself. He was a jack of all trades who loved tinkering in his garage workshop – learning to do many home improvements himself – like plumbing, tiling, electrical, carpentry, and more. He loved to tell stories of “back home” to everyone who would listen. He also loved spending as much time as he could with his whole family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy. Parties were always held at “Zio Peppino” and Zia Tina’s, where family and friends would pile into the basement for hours with food, dancing, and fun.

elevated 0s3ac Giuseppe will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him. He now joins his heavenly family; parents Feliciano and Candita, and siblings Francesco, Giacomo, Luigi, Vincenza, Arturo, and Panfilia.

elevated 0s3ac The depth of love, devotion and affection he had for his family was boundless and will always reside with us.

elevated 0s3ac The family wishes to thank Dr. Ugo Gizzi, as well as all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for providing such compassionate care during his time there.
