elevated qOQ32 It is with deep sadness that the family announces that Gloria Esther Fenech (nee Mclelland) died peacefully in Lakeridge Hospital on July 31, 2026 in Oshawa at the age of 85 with Lorraine (her niece by marriage) holding her hand.

elevated qOQ32 Gloria was born in Lisburn, Ireland to Marcus & Mabel Mclelland (both deceased) on May 9, 1941.  As a young adult she immigrated to Canada where she began a wonderful new adventure and married for many years to her husband Victor Fenech (deceased 2017).  Gloria worked her entire career in the warehouse at Drug Trading with many of her in-laws.  Victor and Gloria spent much of their married life living in Toronto, their “snowbird” home in Port Charlotte, Florida and later retiring to their cottage in Cameron, Ontario.

elevated qOQ32 Survived by her sisters in Ireland, Valerie and Lyn.  She is warmly remembered by her nieces and nephews in Ireland: Philip, Stephen, James, Michelle, Marcus, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

elevated qOQ32 When Gloria married into the Fenech family she acquired many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, some of whom she is now reunited with and dearly remembered by those who survive her: Mary Fenech (deceased), Freddie (Doris) Fenech (deceased), Charles (Joan) Fenech (deceased), Rita (Jimmy, deceased) Deguara, Margaret (Nick, deceased) Sapusak (deceased), Joe (Josephine) Fenech (deceased), Tony (Brenda, deceased) Fenech (deceased); and she thoughtfully considered siblings-in-law by marriage Ken and Janet Orchard.

elevated qOQ32 The family is appreciative to Joan Fenech for being a caregiver and companion to Gloria prior to her entering hospital.  They are thankful to the Palliative Care team and social worker at Lakeridge Hospital for the care and dignity they provided to Gloria in her final days.

elevated qOQ32 Gloria will be remembered for her smile that lit up any room, her laughter and humour, and her cheeky demeanor always reminding you “if you can’t be good, be safe”.  She touched the lives of many people leaving behind a legacy of love and memories.
