elevated YanEX Obituary

elevated YanEX The extraordinary, the amazing, the talented Graziella Giansante went home to the Lord, on January 12, 2021, at the age of 86.
Graziella was born in Roccamorice, Pescara, Italy, on May 10, 1934, to Francesco DiPietrantonio (predeceased) and Chiara Taglieri (predeceased).  She was born a twin; but, unfortunately her twin brother died at birth.
Graziella married Pasquantonio (Antonio) Giansante, on August 16, 1956.  She was married to her beloved husband for 64 years.  Their marriage was based on friendship, honesty, mutual love, respect, and kindness.  They did everything together, and it was always said that they were attached at the hip.
Graziella made the long voyage on the Atlantic Ocean to Canada in March, 1963, with her two young daughters, Felicetta (Phyllis) and Lucia (Lucy), to join her husband who immigrated earlier to start a new life for his family.
Graziella sacrificed and worked so hard in various fields to ensure that her family was well taken care of.  She was generous, loving, high-spirited, strong-willed and selfless.  She lived a very simple and honest life, always making her family her priority.
Graziella had golden hands.  She was an extraordinary chef, baker, sewer, crotchetier, embroiderer, knitter.  She loved dancing the traditional Italian dances and was a past member of the St. Matthew’s Church choir on Old Weston Road in Toronto.
Tirelessly and with love, she prepared authentic Italian dishes for her family and friends.  She baked delicious cookies and cakes and the heavenly scent of fresh baked goods radiated throughout her house. She made the best homemade pastas, tomato sauces,  pizzas, panzarottis, roast beef, pizzellas, amaretto cookies and rum cakes.  Anyone who would come to our house never left hungry.  At Christmas and other holidays, she opened her home to friends who were alone to join us in our celebrations.  There was always room for one more at our table and a care package to take home.  She was happiest when everyone was seated at the table enjoying her scrumptious creations.
During the 60’s, life was very difficult for the new Italian immigrants and they improvised the best they could to make ends meet.  To help the female relatives, she would use her sewing skills and wholeheartedly sewed them dresses and skirts from fabrics they would buy on special.  You would find her sitting at her sewing machine for hours, humming and singing, as she created original designs from scratch without using a pattern.  We lovingly called her, ‘Grace the Fashion Designer’.
She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving husband, Antonio, her son Donato (Danny), who was born a twin but his twin sister was stillborn, her daughters Felicetta and Lucia, and her grandchildren, Tonya Risi and Lucas Risi who she was instrumental in raising and the apple of her eye, her great grandson Nolan Esposito.
Graziella was predeceased by her handsome brothers:  Vittorio DiPietrantonio, Umberto DiPietrantonio, Giuseppe Pietrantonio, and Tomasso DiPietrantonio; her brothers-in-law Bartolomeo Napoleone, Sante D’Alimonte, Dino Rossi; her sisters-in-law Rosalina DiPietrantonio, Assunta DiPietrantonio, Maria DiPietrantonio, Concetta Napoleone, Antoinetta D’Alimonte, Angiolina Giansante.  She is survived by her brother Donato DiPietrantonio  and sister Antonietta Rossi; sisters-in-law Iolanda Pietrantonio, Concetta Dilulliochiaccia.  She will be greatly missed by her extended family from Canada, France, Belgium, and Italy.
