elevated w9yih Helena Shui Chun Tham passed away peacefully on June 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 78.
elevated w9yih Helena Shui Chun Tham is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robin Wilson Tham. She was a caring and devoted mother to Laurence and Anthony. Proud “Poh Poh” to Kaia, Christian, Nicholas, Nolan, Riyah and Solana. Cherished daughter to Yeung Sai Tai and the late Lee Tin and sister to John, Alice, Jimmy, Shui Ying, Karen, Yvonne and Kei.
elevated w9yih Helena was the eldest of 8 children and born in China and grew up in Hong Kong in a loving and cohesive family. At the young age of 17 she sailed to England to complete her high school education, later completing a degree in Electrical Engineering in Birmingham. With a degree in hand and a new life to create, she immigrated to Canada looking for a better future for herself and her family in China. With that in mind, she became a Computer System Analyst for Honeywell and National Grocers.
elevated w9yih Helena devoted her life to the betterment of others. Her servant heart led her to join the Legion of Mary at the age of 16 where she visited the sick and poor weekly. Her love of helping others led her to meet and fall in love with Robin while volunteering at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel, in Toronto.
elevated w9yih Their love and relationship stood the test of time. For over 50 years (48 married), they created a fruitful and fulfilling life together growing as a family and travelling the world learning, experiencing and helping others.
elevated w9yih Helena’s passion to help others never wavered, only growing stronger and later branching into a career in healing. From being the first class to graduate Foot Reflexology in Taiwan , to completing a PhD in holistic nutrition and dedicating the last decade of her life to learning, giving and healing with Longevitology Meditation.
elevated w9yih Helena’s legacy has touched many lives. From ensuring that her parents and siblings immigrated to Canada, to helping open two Longevitology Meditation Centres in Perth, Australia, to starting the first Tai Chi class at Blessed Trinity Parish. These are only a few of her many accomplishments that have touched and changed so many lives.
elevated w9yih Helena dedicated her life to the betterment of others, never seeking praise or accolades. She gave because she could. She helped because she was called to, and in doing so, she never wavered in her beliefs and values. She lived her life on her own terms without fanfare or adoration. She served quietly and humbly and she left this world a better place.
elevated w9yih Helena will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of many families, friends of Blessed Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the world.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the passing of Helena. She was a God sent when I had a very serious accident in 1983. Lucas and Theresa told me about her who had just completed studying foot reflexology and Helena would love to use her skill on someone. I became her first patient.
I will never ever forget the foot reflexology treatment that she gave me that speeded up my recovery while I was at Riverdale Hospital. My doctor then and the two physiotherapists were amazed how fast I healed. This was all because of Helena. She came to the hospital twice a week to see me and continued to visit me at my house until after my discharge from the hospital until I was free from pain and became mobile.
What she did for me will never be forgotten.
We have known Helena for many many years. We have witnessed countless times of her offering help and care to others. She not only organized support groups for the sick, she also organized a support group for the care-givers whom not many people realize that they also need support themselves to take on the responsibility of care-giving. Helena’s tireless devotion to help others had touch all who knew her. She will fondly be loved and missed. May she rest so deservingly in God’s grace.
Helena, an amazing human being who dedicated her life to live the gospel message! May you rest now in heavenly peace! Robin, you are in our thoughts and prayers! May the Lord grant you and your family His peace, patience and strength to get you through this difficult time!
Wilson I grieve that you have lost your partner of 48 years I know you have a vast store of memories that will help you in the future you are blessed with family.your work family will be thinking of you.
