elevated 073U1 Herman George Gabay, of Mississauga Ontario, passed away on June 24th, 2020 at Trillium Hospital.
elevated 073U1 Herman was born to parents, Caleb Gabay and Maud Sutherland in Above Rocks, Jamaica. Herman first moved to Canada in 1969 and met his wife Mary Carole (nee Benoit) in 1974. They recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Herman is survived by Carole, Rodney, Danielle, Paul, Richard, Denise, Dawn, Robert, brothers Johnny and Lloyd and many close loved ones.
elevated 073U1 Herman enjoyed following hockey, baseball and basketball. He gravitated to sports when he first moved to Canada and rarely missed watching Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays games. Herman had an ear for music. He could pick up a guitar or piano and play short melodies with ease.
elevated 073U1 Herman was a compassionate, generous and disciplined man. He loved his family and tried his best to help loved ones whenever possible. He could appear quiet and to himself, but when he spoke he was funny and always made people laugh. Although he lived a long life, he has left us all far too soon. His smile will be deeply missed.

Visitation and service will be held on Monday, June 29th, 2020.

Herman was my grandmother’s cousin. I only met him 9 years ago at my dad’s funeral. He was so sweet. I was to go visit him a few years ago but that never happened and I’m sad I didn’t get the opportunity to know him. Deepest condolences to all the family.
