elevated ikekK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Hsiu-Chin Chu on October 17, 2026, at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, at the age of 85. Born on August 10, 1941, in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, Hsiu-Chin lived a life devoted to God, her family, and the service of others.

elevated ikekK In 1963, she married her beloved husband, Rev. Yun-Ming Chu, and together they faithfully served the church in Taichung, Taiwan, for over 20 years. Hsiu-Chin was a gentle, humble, and compassionate woman who embraced others with a mother’s love. She devoted herself to caring for the Church and her family.

elevated ikekK After moving to Canada in 1986, Hsiu-Chin continued to build meaningful relationships within her church – Edmonton Good Shepherd Chinese Lutheran Church. She welcomed fellow believers from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia with open arms, forming tight-knit friendships that grew into a family in Christ. Even as the years passed, she remained deeply connected to those whose lives she had touched. In 1999, she settled in Toronto to be closer to her children and grandchildren, and became part of the North York Mandarin Alliance Church family. Even when her health no longer allowed her to attend church regularly, she continued to be surrounded by the love and care of her brothers and sisters in Christ from both NYMAC and TCCC Mandarin congregations.

elevated ikekK Above all, Hsiu-Chin will be remembered for her quiet acts of hospitality, humility, generosity, and unwavering faith in God. She never sought recognition for the kindness she showed, but her compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her love for her family and her dedication to serving others were reflections of the faith she carried throughout her life.

elevated ikekK Hsiu-Chin leaves behind her four beloved daughters, Esther, Rebecca, Jocelyn, and Deborah; their spouses, Wen, Ryan, Bob, and Stanley; and her six grandchildren, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Katherine, Cody, Timothy, and Jake, who will forever cherish her memory.

elevated ikekK Her life was a beautiful testament to God’s love, and her selfless service will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

elevated ikekK The family kindly requests that no flowers or donations be made. We are deeply grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this time.
