elevated MKwva Obituary

It is  with profound sadness that we announce, the passing of our precious mother, Ida Filice, at the age of 90  on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Mississauga, Ontario.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Giuseppe of 58 years, and her dear son, Carlo.   Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing they will be reunited in heaven.

Loving mother of Susanna, Silvana (the late Emilio) the late Carlo,  Lisa (Joe), and Nella (John).

Proud and cherished Nonna of Nathan, Daniela, Stefanie (David), Peter, Joseph (Lorena), Alessandra (Michael), Jonathan (Julia), Alissia, Andrea, and Bisnonna to seven great-grandchildren.

Dear  sister of the late Francesco (Ida), the late Giuseppina and (Armando Buccieri), the late Divina and (Stanley Filice), Salvatore (Emma), Vittorio (Lidia), Natale (Ersilia), Dora (the late Florindo D’Amelio), and Ottavio (Dora).  She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Mom was a gifted seamstress and Pattern Designer/Cutter, having received her Certification in 1955 before emigrating to Canada.  We remember her spending countless late nights creating beautiful outfits we wore with pride.  Family and friends enjoyed her cooking, and to this day, no matter how hard we try to recreate her dishes, we are always reminded that Nonna’s meals were always better.

She was a woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, kindness and grace. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep love and devotion to family, and appreciation for life’s simple joys.

We will miss you and love you forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
